Keep eye on £/$ rate

Hi
Has anybody used Crown currency exchange to pre order currency .I am not sure how it works but offering 1.50 in May is tempting to buy .Do you pay today or pay just before you receive very confused .
Any help would be appreciated .

You can order on line or over the phone and have to pay up front. When ordering you select your delivery date, which determines the rate you get.

I find that scary :scared1: .I am paying and cannot guarantee the money .How finances stand today do not think I will go down that road . Thank you for the info .:worship:
I think we are all trying our best to find the best rate.

Hi - yes - several times - see my post above yours.

You order online or by phone based on the date you want your currency to arrive, pay as soon as you order via cheque or BACS, they deliver via special delivery (you have to be in to sign) on the date you specified.

I've always had good service. :)

Hi Karriemouse
Did you order from crown or Fairfx .:)

Hi - the orders I was talking about above were from Crown Currency and Travel Money Services who are sister companies.

Now I have a FairFX card (www.fairfx.com) which you may prefer if you prefer less 'risk'.

Party 100:grouphug:
I see you are going soon .Luuuuuuuuuuucky

I can't wait - and my FairFX card is loaded at a rate of 1.4375 so I'm a happy karriemouse!

Maybe I really should be packing rather than :surfweb: tho!!!

OK so for all these services you pay up front and take the chance on the rate .Fairfx you take the rate of today the others you take the chance on the rate they offer you and that they will exiist in 2-3 months.

It depends what you mean by others, there are various ways you can buy currency, with various levels of protection, and of course no one can preduct rates otherwise they would be very rich!

With regard to whether companies will exist in 2-3 months time, I don't think anyone is safe these days.

The rate you fix when you buy with CCE and TMS is guaranteed. They will not change it once you have paid. However they are not bonded so there is no safety net in the unlikely event that they go bust.

With FaiFX you apply for a card, then load money onto it, once it's loaded you have the money. You spend it as a Mastercard, then put more money on for the next trip. If you visit regularly it's worth looking into.

Crown Currency @ 1.525 today if we pre-book for our October trip.

Oh what shall I do :confused3

Have you Crown so many times in the past and think there service is spot on :cool1:

Oh yes that looks a good rate, I might order some, I've never used them before though.

Hiya Chilly.

I've been keeping my eye on the actual Market Data all day and its taken a bit of a nose dive from 1pm onwards, so I'd buy now if your wanting that rate, I'd bet that by the morning its down slightly.

To be honest I've been getting mine in dribs and draps, £500 here, £300 there. Whenever the rate goes over 1.51 I normally grab a few dollars.

It seems a Fantastic rate for now but this time last year I ordered all of ours at 2.03 to the £ :scared1:

I know in this current climate no ones truely safe, but I have used Crown with fairly large transactions over the past few years and find them second to none.:thumbsup2

What a dilema, I go in October so do I wait or do I grab a chunk of the $1.52 with CE. I understand that the £ does rally against the $ in April, but this year I suspect is different.

Do I wait or do I buy:confused3

We have just ordered the remainder of our money for May with Crown Currency at a rate of $1.505 - not as good as the rate for the first lot we bought when we got $1.92 - but with rates as low as they have been we are happy with this deal.

We have used Crown Currency for a number of years and have been very happy with their service.
