KBToys - Bankruptcy - can I use a gift card?

I have two gift cards from KBtoys that I was going to use for CHristmas, but havent had a chance to get there yet.

Today, they announced they are closing all stores, and will start clearance sales immediately.

Do you think they will still take the gift cards?

I am going to try to get there tomorrow... it is almost an hour drive, since all the other ones have already closed!

Most companies when they announce liquidation do not accept gift cards. I would call the store before you drive that far to find out if they will accept them or not.

Do it ASAP the longer into it you wait the less likely they will accept it.

Mervyns is going out of business and they accepted the Gift card i had left from 2 years ago.

Oh darn, I have a gift card too! 2nd time this has happened to me this year, I also had a Bennigan's gift card. I really need to go through my gift cards and make sure to spend them.

I have a $20 gift card....just went online....they're NOT taking them....

Their site said to check back in 24 hours that they were having system errors. I wonder if the site got over run with people using their GCs!

It will depend on how the liqudation is being run. If KB is doing it themselves, they will take the cards. If a liqudation company took possession of the stores, then they will not accept the cards. I agree, call the stoee first.

I just ordered something from their web site yesterday. I did notice the web site said it wasn't accepting gift cards at this time, but I thought it was just some system problem. When I told DH where I placed the order, he laughed and told me they had just filed bankruptcy. I was worried that would affect my order, but the item actually shipped later that day. Whew!

I got the Sleeping Beauty styling head vanity for $50 (it's on SALE for $70 at TRU and out of stock at Target). I was done Christmas shopping, then DD4 told Santa on Monday that the vanity is the only thing she wants. I was beginning to panic! Thanks, KB!

I had a $25 g/c that I received from my Discover Cash Back bonus back in September. I called them yesterday to say that I felt rather embarrased to give this as a gift. They told me to cut it up and I could pick something else. They have a Borders card on the way. GREAT customer service from Discover!

I SUCCESSFULLY used my giftcards at my local store this morning!! YIPPEE!!


The manager did say that the website is no longer going to accept the gift cards. We'll see if he's right about that.....

It is so odd; they just opened a webstore on amazon! Or maybe that is why the website isn't accepting them, b/c they have made a financial choice to let amazon take care of their website? That's how it was with BRU and TRU, before they took their, literal, toys and went home, LOL. They were just a part of amazon back then, and amazon was their only web presence. So maybe kbtoys is moving their web presence to amazon (good choice!), and maybe they are moving to ONLY having a web presence?

I bought $15 GC's for my nieces and nephew! Oh, I hope they can still use them in a month!

If not, I'm out $45.

I'd go straight to a KB and use those gc's to get them actual presents tonight.

I highly doubt those gc's will be worth the plastic they are made with within a week.

It doesn't seem like they are leaving people high and dry; rather it seems they are working to HELP people right and left.

If you just read the "we're not accepting them" and didn't look further, you're doing yourself and the company a disservice, IMO. Fine print is there for a reason, and the reason is to give out information!
