Helen was flying home this morning, leaving me with two solo days. This was going to be my first solo time at WDW, and I was really looking forward to it. We were up at 7am, and I hung around the room talking with Helen while she packed. She went down to the lobby to catch her ride to the airport at 8:15, and I headed to the Swan health club to work out. The Swan has a nice health club. There aren’t a lot of machines, but everything is clean and in good condition, and it’s enough to keep you from feeling like a slug if you’re used to working out. I usually work out 6 days a week, and I only worked out 3 times during my week at the Swan, but I was on vacation so I didn’t feel too bad about it.

After my workout I stopped by the coffee bar in the Swan lobby to get some coffee and fruit, then went back to the room to have breakfast and get dressed. I lounged around the room for a while because it was supposed to warm up today, and I had had enough of walking around freezing! I walked over to Epcot at 12:15, and it was turning out be a gorgeous day – woo hoo!

I had a pretzel and Dt. Coke for lunch from the stand in Germany – hey, it’s my solo day, I’ll have a pretzel for lunch if I want to! I sat on a bench near Germany overlooking the lagoon so that I could people watch while I ate my pretzel. When it was close to 1pm, I walked over to Canada to see Off Kilter’s first show of the day – tell me you’re surprised to hear that. After the show, I walked to Mexico and Norway to see the performers and the holiday storytellers there. Then it was back to Canada for the 2:30 Off Kilter show. Are you sensing a theme here? I decided that my solo days would be spent doing something I’ve always wanted to do but was never able to with family and friends along – watching all the different performers in Epcot. And that’s exactly what I did. The rest of this day was spent watching holiday storytellers, Mo Rockin, and, of course, Off Kilter.

After Off Kilter’s last show of the day at 6, I had Nachos (without beef of course) in Mexico for dinner then went back to the Swan to call my family and get ready for the evening. I had been reading so much about Jellyrolls from my friends on the DIS (especially my friend Karen) and so my plan was to go there for the evening and check it out. I had waited until this evening to go because Karen’s friend Scotty would be playing.

I walked over to the Boardwalk and Jellyrolls at 8:30. I was planning to go early and just stay for Scotty and Ray’s first set. I had never been to a bar by myself before, and I figured I wouldn’t want to stick around too long (it turned out that I was wrong about that!) There were only about 10 people there that early. Jason and Tommy were playing when I got there. I sat at a table on the front row by Jason’s piano. After they finished the song they were doing, Jason went around the room asking people where they were from and if they had been there before. I told him my name and that it was my first time there. For the rest of the evening, both Jason and Tommy chatted with me off and on during their sets since I was alone and it was my first visit. It was very sweet of them and made me feel much more comfortable than I would have otherwise.

Scotty and Ray came on at 9. Scotty was at the piano in front of me. Shortly after he started playing, I put a request on his piano and signed it: “Karen from Kentucky – Karen from Boston sent me.” As soon as he read it, he nodded and grinned, and my request was the next song he played.

Tuesday night is CM night at Jellyrolls, so the crowd started pouring in during Scotty and Ray’s first set and the place was absolutely crazy by the end of the night. I was having a lot of fun watching the piano players and talking to some of the people at the tables around me. There were two really sweet CM’s at the table next to mine, Jen and Liz. I talked to them quite a bit during the evening, so I didn’t feel alone at all.

Toward the end of the night, my server came over and said that Jason wanted to buy me a drink. She said he told her to tell me thanks for sticking around, and that I was a lot of fun. What a sweet guy!

Scotty came over to talk to Jen, Liz and me at the end of the night. I was talking to him about Karen, and he was saying how much fun it is when she’s there. He turned to Jen and Liz and said: “You two should be here sometime when Karen is here. She’s great.”

I asked Scotty if Jason was still around because I wanted to thank him for the drink. Scotty took me to the back and got Jason so I could say thanks. After I thanked Jason, I walked back to the Swan (right around the corner). What a fun evening! I highly recommend that everyone visit Jellyrolls if you get the chance. And tell Jason and Tommy that Karen from Kentucky says hi!

Oh, you lucky duck, getting some solo time. I'd like a couple days solo time myself one of these days. It would be wonderful to be able to do whatever I wanted instead of doing what the rest of the group wants all the time.

I'm thinking about taking Dad & aunt/uncle, all in thier late 70's and Dad is 80, to Jellyrolls one night since we're staying at BWV. I haven't been before so I don't know how they'd like it. About the only night we have free is our last night. If I do, I'll tell them the Karens from Boston & Kentucky sent us!

Yay! Day six! I'm famous! I made it into Karen's trip report and I wasn't even there! Aren't Scotty and Ray the greatest?

Jennymouse, you should definitely hit Jellyrolls! It's a blast. Just be warned that it can get loud in there, and smoking is allowed there (although I haven't had too many problems with that).

And to get the Karen's straight, me, Karen from Boston knows Scotty and Ray (although Christian and Tommy also know who I am), and Karen from Kentucky knows Tommy and Jason.

I think you should take them. Maybe not on a Tuesday night because it's CM night and it gets really crazy. But I think any other night would be a lot of fun for them. I don't know anything about your aunt and uncle, but since your dad is a fan of Off Kilter AKA "them boys" (and we all know that I am too!) I'm pretty sure he'd like Jellyrolls too. :D And if you go, definitely tell the guys that the Karens sent you!

Sounds like a lovely day. I know I "took" a day/afternoon just to wander around WS by myself and ended up getting in trouble (missed our groups dinner, worried the heck out of DH), but had such a good time and I STILL didn't get a chance to see everything there in 6 hours!

Wow! Sounds like a great time at Jellyrolls! They never offered to buy me a drink! (Probably cause I always had one. :)) And invited out back too, oooh!

Well, when the server came over to tell me Jason wanted to buy me a drink, I still had half a drink left and it was toward the end of the evening. Up until then I had been doing a good job of pacing my drinking, but I had to drink that drink-and-a-half pretty fast. :drinking1 Let's just say I was feeling pretty good after that, although my head wasn't feeling so great the next morning.

Uh oh. Kaycee can't handle the liquor. LOL.
