kayaking on castaway cay

Has anyone gone out exploring with a kayak on castaway cay (just renting a kayak, not the tour version)? I'm curious where you can go and how much of the island you can navigate around. Are you just stuck by the swimming areas or can you go all around anywhere you want? It's a 1,000 acre island but according to the map you can only get to a small portion of it, I'm wondering if any of the boat rentals will let us escape the crowds and explore a bit... We love to kayak but prefer to strike out on our own rather than go with a group.

You are in a limited area, but it's still fun because you can paddle out to the ship! I love kayaking at CC. You get to go much farther on the tour.
