Katy Perry on Sesame Street

What an exercise in stupidity. SS has had heroin users and stars who aren't known for monogamy on the program but a woman who has GASP breasts is axed. Idiocy. This show went the toilet years ago.

I am pleased she didn't sing California Elmo or something and his lolipop melting like the song does.

Its a shame that SS has to think crackheads and such belong on a kid's show. but I digress.

Why doesn't Katy Perry belong on it? She's got a nice voice and sang a fun song that was edited to be relevant to the show and Elmo. Sesame Street obviously didn't have a problem with the outfit or they wouldn't have dressed her in it. She's wearing more than Tinker Bell and most, if not all, of the other fairies, way more than Ariel as mermaid, and about as much as Pocahontas wears.

I don't know who is meant by "crackheads," but the kids who watch Sesame Street wouldn't know anything about that.

I showed the segment to my 2 year old and he thought it was funny. Why is playing dress up not okay? It clearly stated that it was supposed to be Katy playing dress up and Elmo ditched her...and then they broke out in (very cute) song and she chased him just like in the lyrics....My kids all nursed and see more breasts in a day then that, lol!

Thanks for the info, I had no idea so many people made an appearance on the show.
Personally, I don't have an issue with any of them, unless of course they were in the alley with Elmo and Big Bird shooting up and showing kids how good it feels. Since KP wasn't doing anything sexual with or to Elmo, I don't see the big deal about her either.

No I would not.

Do you have children? If so have they visited DLR or WDW? If so have they visited/met Ariel, fairies, Jasmine, Pocahontas etc. ?

I thought it was cute and so did DS.

Do I think the costume person went on break or was off that day? YES.

Do I think they could go back and have her re-do it wearing something a bit more modest? Yes.

Do I think it should have been pulled from the show? No.


I think more damage was done by the nasty people who made inappropriate comments (who probably didn't even have kids, they probably just followed links to her) than *actual* parents.


All that said, the show is awful now (ever since they introduced Elmo and then made Snuffaluphagus real), and even though it's just about as old as me and was all I was allowed to watch as a small child, and I thought I'd raise my own son on it, we rarely watch it. Better programming on Sprout and even some Nick Jr shows than on SS. Sad to say...

5 kids, boys and girls, and have been to Dis many times. I just think for a kids program, it would have saved a lot of time and problems if the dress would have been alittle less revealing. Who knows maybe Sesame did it on purpose to create "buzz" for the new season. I'm not going to call Disney out on the Princess costumes, but if people are offended and write to Disney, I would understand their concern. I'm not going to turn off Sesame because of Katy Perry, or not go to Disney because of Jasmine's chest, but if these places don't want the negative comments, a simple piece of material would end the issue with some people.

Kids see far worse at the beach, or even in the flyer sitting on my counter on Sunday morning of a bra and pantie ad. Seriously people, they need to get a grip and worry about the bigger things in life.

I don't think it was so bad that I would have complained. However, for those that are saying kids see worse at Wal-Mart or the beach-sure they do, but I think children's programs, and certainly the iconic Sesame Street, should be held up to higher standards than Wal-Mart!
