Katie Holmes is Pregnant

I feel sorry for Katie. He has this eerie control over her... and I can't imagine being pregnant by a man who has so little respect for the struggles a mother goes through in giving birth and caring for a new baby.

Because to a lot of people it's not a religion, but a money-making scam/cult invented by a crazy man.

::yes::

So, did Brittany have her baby? Did she name it Fufu or something strange?

I am pretty sure they advocate natural - drug less birth - I THINK, but am not sure they have their own facilities - I am trying to remember an interview I saw once with John Travolta and Kelly Preston..like everything else, they have some very definate feelings on it.

I am usually one for not bashing religion - but I also do not feel this is a legitimate religion - I have seen how they can operate and it screams underhanded cult dealings!!!!

This only increases my suspicions that this whole “relationship” is a publicity stunt. How many people, celebrity or not, tell the whole world they are expecting early on, especially by having their publicist call the magazine? Most people I know keep it to close family and friends until after the 13 week.

Didn't he fire his publicist about a year ago and hired his sister as his publicist.

She had a baby boy 2 weeks ago, I think his name is Preston

Get ready for another round of Scientology bashing. For some reason it's perfectly fine to make fun of that religion.

With all due respect, I appreciate you sticking up for religions. But please do some research on Scientology and see if you still describe it as a religion when you are done. You can start with the famous article in Time Magazine ("Scientology: The Cult of Greed") that concluded that Scientology was a dangerous and litigious cult. (FYI, this would be the article that Scientology sued them for, and that would be the lawsuit that was ultimately dismissed by the Supreme Court).

His name is Sean Preston.

And I don't think Tom is gay...I am not a gay basher! :teeth:

With all due respect, either all religions deserve respect or none of them do.

Wouldn't be the first time people have said things in celeb threads that they would otherwise freak out about. Check out how many people call celebs "stick" after going on about how somebody was rude in calling people "jumbo". IMO no different that complaining about religion bashing and then going on about Tom's beliefs.

I was led to believe that the whole Tom/Nicole breakup was due to the fact that Cruise couln't father a child and Nicole became pregnant. Tom knew it couldn't be his kid.....hence the divorce. :confused3

As far as the new couple goes, I think they couldn't stand that the public stopped talking about them. Gotta get back in the public eye somehow. ;) These 2 just rub me the wrong way.

I think it's kind of funny that this came up about two days after I was actually sitting in my car thinking "Hey! That whole Tom/Katie Holmes publicity thing has died down, cool."

Poor Katie, she used to seem so normal!

I bet that the press would quit talking about it if the public didn't want to know. Let's face it, we are all a little responsible for it being one of the topics of the day.

As for Scientology, I admit to not knowing much about it. Is it really so bad? I like John Travolta and Kelly Preston and I know that they're deeply into it.

Wait, um, didn't I read that Katie wasn't going to... be with a man (trying to keep it Dis friendly) until she was married? I'm confused. :confused3

Disagree. I can respect the RIGHT of someone to have a "religion" like Scientology, but I don't have to respect the religion. Because I personally do not believe it is a religion. Two friends of mine were cornered by Scientologists a long time ago when they were younger teenage boys. THey basically followed them round and badgered them into coming in to take a "short" questionnaire. Finally, my friend and his buddy agreed just to get them to shut up. They were separated and confined for TWELVE hours while being shown videos and getting questioned by the Scientologists. They were both able to escape, luckily. Think I have to "respect" that? Sorry, but I don't.

I hope she has a happy, healthy pregnancy and that they will have a wonderful life together.

Again, I will say, do some research and see if you still call it a RELIGION. I am not basing my comments on Tom's behavior. I could care less what a celebrity says about anything--but he is not helping their image any. I am basing my comments on weeks of research that I did in college. This is not a religion. Go read the Time article, even if you don't want to read anything else, ok? Google Time Magazine + Scientology.

Oh, and by the way, nothing and no one "deserves" respect. You have to be worthy of it.

That's what I had read too. I guess the engagement ring counted as "close enough". :)

Your opinion, Time's opinion, all just opinion. Weigh that against the opinion of numerous people who feel it is a religion.

I've seen people say that we must respect their religion. Were they out of line or are things different when it comes to (generic) your religion? In other words, is it fine to disrespect the religion (generic) you don't find repectable?
