Kate's Back on Track Journal - comments welcome

Well, food has been pretty good the last few days, but I did have a few chocolate covered cashews this afternoon! Threw the rest away.

I leave Thursday, and will have a relaxing time with friends. This is a group of friends I met on line through WW about 4 years ago, and we're all in different stages of weight loss. They are a great, funny group, and we haven't been together since last summer. I hope we can all behave ourselves with the eating!! :sunny:

Yes, the picnic was a once in a while thing, and in general I do pretty well, but I've gotten lazy again and not as careful. Also, this week work has been busy and I haven't had much time to exercise. Hope I can run tomorrow morning since I won't be going in the office.

Hi Kate, Wow, I went back a page to check out your before and after pics, what a difference! You look great. I hope you have a great time with your WW friends. I need to start tracking my points again, I see you do, I keep a mental tally but have not been losing so obvioulsy I am not keeping careful enough track. I see you always do, maybe thats why you are basically at goal and I am nowhere near mine! Have a great trip, being with others who are on a weight loss/maintainence journey should be a great experience!

Amy

I would hope that all you WWers will be able to behave while on your trip! :goodvibes

I'm sure you'll do fine, you always seem to make the best out of whatever situation you are in! :thumbsup2

Amy

Great news on the weigh-in!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:  :cool1:

You are really exercising a lot this month and all your hard work is paying off. I know you'll have a fabulous time this weekend and I'm sure you'll behave with the food as well... :goodvibes

Congrats on the WI :cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Have a fabulous time with your friends. Since you are all WW, staying on track on your trip will be easy. Your eating and exercising are awesome.

I'm back from my trip, had a WONDERFUL weekend, and now am very committed to getting serious about this eating/exercising program again. I AM going to lose at least 10 lbs before I see my friends again next year!! :sunny:

I arrived in Nebraska with no airline troubles (can't say that for all the girls, many delays, cancelled flights etc. - what a pain!)
We ate sushi one night, that was great, and Mexican one night, I had a spicy shrimp soup that was very good and very filling, but probably a better food choice than lots of the heavy cheese dishes.

We snacked on fruits and veggies, drank a lot of water (and some girls had margaritas, etc.)

I ran one morning, and we went out on jet skis one day. Did some shopping and lots of talking. All in all a lot of fun and I can hardly wait another year to see them all again!

Resisted buying snacks at Walgreens when I bought necessary feminine
items to keep at work. (Lucky me, Aunt Flo decided to show up for the last day of my trip! )

Sounds like you had a blast! And it looks like you made some sensible food choices too!

That is awesome that you skipped the candy at Walgreens, I know that is a hard thing for you to pass up! :cheer2:

Sounds like you had a great trip. Glad to hear that you had no problems with the airlines. YOu made some great food choices - shrimp is low fat and high protein - I wish I liked it better. I'll have a few but not nearly as many as dh does. I was watching a tivo'd "View" a this afternoon while waiting for dh. They were talking about the high calorie content in mixed cocktails - You'll be very glad that you didn't have a margarita - they're high in calories. I was really upset when I found out that my Long Island Iced Teas were the worst.

Congrats on your weigh in! :thumbsup2

Jane, Amy, I did have a nice time, and it got me more motivated to be with others who are trying to lose also.

You are really racking up those exercise minutes! :cheer2:

You have been doing great with tracking all your points, way to go! :cool1: :yay: :thumbsup2

Thanks Amy, I'll have to get in the August exercise challenge, didn't even try in July, with getting back from vacation and work being hectic, etc.

WI yesterday, I was down .2 :goodvibes At least I didn't go up, and every little bit is that much closer, I guess.

Your food choices look really good. Whats Peggy's Special Shrimp? I'm always on the lookout for seafood recipes for dh. Great workout at the gym - You must be in great shape - I don't think my knees could handle the stair climber for 20 minutes.

Hi Kate, it sounds like your trip with your girlfriends was so much fun and you did so well with food. What a great combo! You are so good with your points, you inspire me to do better. And I also want to know the details of that shrimp! Keep up your good work!

Peggy is a good friend of mine, this is her recipe, and it's easy but tasty:

Peggy's Special Shrimp

3 T butter (or margarine, I use the fat free versions)
3 cloves garlic
3 T parsley
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp Worchestershire sauce

1 lb shrimp, shelled and de-veined
1 tsp paprika
2T white wine

Mix first 7 ingredients in heavy skillet. Add shrimp, sprinkle with paprika. Put under broiler for 6 minutes - take out and put on stove for 2 minutes. Add wine and cook for 1 more minute.

Serve over rice.
