Kate's Back on Track Journal - comments welcome

Well, it has been ages since I've been here regularly, and the weight is up too!!

Parents anniversary party was wonderful.

Since then DD went to her camp, and we spent the following week in Florida, on the beach, generally relaxing, and eating, though I did pretty well and , and we just got back from our week vacation in Florida. That was relaxing, weather was perfect (hot!) and I made good choices even going out to eat a few times (we stayed in a condo and cooked most nights).

Now I've been home for almost a week, getting back into the routine of work, and need to really recommit to the good eating/exercising.

I HATE how men seem to be able to lose at the drop of a hat. When we first got back from vacation, I was up 3 lbs, which I didn't think was so awful, but DH had LOST 7 lbs.!!! What???? He ate like a bottomless pit and sat around. How does that work??? LOL :confused3

Oh well, now at least I can try to get back into running almost every day, as long as I get up early and out before it gets too hot.

I have to get DD's help, because I'd love to post my before/after swimsuit pics. There is one of me from another vacation to the beach about 5 years ago, and then one from now. What a difference!! Coming soon...... :sunny:

  Welcome back, Kate!!!

I know what you mean about guys and weight!!! Here, I've been working out and watching what I eat. About a month ago dh dropped 5lbs in about a week - and he wasn't even trying.

Sounds like you had a great time in Florida!

I'm glad to hear you had such a great time! And I can't wait to see the before and after photos! See, even if you gained a little on this trip, you are still in better shape than you were before, good for you!!! :teeth:

Raining here today, so no running this morning.

We had planned on going to the drive-in tonight to see Pirates, but not sure that will happen unless the weather clears up!

Food so far today:

0 coffee

4 fried egg/egg whites with laughing cow on 12 grain bread

1 pineapple chunks

I hope you get to go to the movies! I loved Pirates and I already can't wait for the 3rd one to come out next May! :thumbsup2

Here they are finally!! The before/after swimsuit pictures. The one on the left is me about 5 years ago, at about 170 - 175, somewhere in that range. The one on the right is me end of June, 2006, at about 135. :goodvibes
(DD helped me and insisted that we cut her out of the photo - that's part of her arm next to me)

I'm still working on getting back to my low WW goal of Oct. 2004 - 120, I can always lose more in the legs, that I inherited from my family. (Most of the women in the family have thunder thighs!!)

The maintenance part is SO hard, but I just keep looking at the me on the left, don't want to get up there again!! :scared1:

Did very well with food today, first good day in a while. Resisted chocolate at the store with DDs, and at all my dairy, f/v and stayed within my points.\

Ran this morning for a short run before the rain came again, then did a short time on the elliptical at the gym with DD, then walked a bit this evening.

We did manage to see Pirates last night, 2 of my DD's and my DS and his friend who had never been to the drive-in before. We got rained on only for about 5 minutes - DS said it was like being in a 4-D movie, we were wet just like those on the pirate ship!

I gotta say, I didn't like it nearly as well as the original. I love JD, but overall the whole thing just didn't seem as fresh, creative, or funny as the first time around. And what was with that situation at the end with Elizabeth?? Sorry, don't want to spoil anything for anyone else, but I don't really like how that's going.

Amy, Jane, thanks for stopping in even though I haven't been here much. I think consistency helps, so I'm going to make more of an effort to post my food and exercise.

Today was
(3) Kashi Go Lean, yogurt, blueberries

(5) turkey, cheese, spinach, tomato and peppers on 12 grain bread sandwich
(0) carrot sticks
(0) grape tomatoes

(1) Blue Bunny fudge lite

(6) chili, a few crackers
(2) salad with low cal dressing

(2) pudding

19 total, 120 oz water, 70 exercise minutes :sunny:

Wow, Kate, you look 10 years younger in the after picture. :woohoo: Its amazing how losing weight can make you look that much younger. Thanks for posting your pics. You look great. It won't be long until your back in the 120s!

WOW, what an amazing transformation! That is such an awesome accomplishment, WAY TO GO!!!!! :cool1: :cheer2:

You will get back down to your goal. You work really hard and it will eventually pay off. I know what you are talking about with Elizabeth on POTC2. I was thinking the same thing! I thought it was very enjoyable and it didn't seem like 2.5 hours or however long it was!

WOW! Your pictures are really a wonderful inspiration! I am still the picture on the left, but seeing your pictures helps me believe that someday I can be the picture on the right. Now I need to go back and read your journal to see how you got there. :cheer2: Thanks so much for posting your pictures.

WI this morning: 136.6
Thursday:
(3) Kashi, yogurt, and blueberries
(2) pretzels
(5) rice/veggie/ham casserole leftover that I heated at work
(1) peach
(1) string cheese
(o) grape tomatoes
(1) frozen fruit cup
(3) three bites of pizza
(3) tortilla with laughing cow and bean dip and shredded zucchini
(1) Blue Bunny fudge lite
(2) two haystacks - had to have my sweet snack late!

(22) total points 80 oz water, no exercise to speak of, except walking to and from the bus (about 1/4 of a mile)

Thanks for all the comments, I'm always nervous posting pics, but it really helps me to have the "before" always posted somewhere to help when I'm tempted to eat something not so good. Maybe I should have Walgreens post my pic in the candy aisle?? :lmao:

Jane, there is a big difference, and I think overall I just feel better. Thanks for the encouragement.

Amy, I know I can drop these 10 or so pounds, but I think that's always hardest, I really need to keep up my motivation now.

Anna, thanks for stopping by. YOU can do it, I think the biggest thing for me was just sticking with a plan for a few weeks, seeing a small drop at first, but taking that as a good thing, rather than expecting fast results.
Also, after a lot of hard work, sometimes there is no drop, or the scale might even go UP, and trying not to get discouraged, because this is a long-term process, it will not happen overnight, but it WILL happen, little by little, and after a while you can look back and see how far you've come. Good luck to you! :goodvibes

Ok, off to run now, exercise is so important, no matter what it is, but doing it consistently really helps.

Wow, it's a point for every bite of pizza? Those must have been some big bites! :rotfl:

Great pep talk to Anna, I need to think of your words next time I want to go off the deep end!

Friday
Running/walking 60 minutes (about 45 running and about 15 minutes of break times to get my breathing under control walking)

(4) Egg, laughing cow, 12 grain bread sandwich
(1) strawberries

(4) homemade chicken noodle soup with a few crackers
(1) grapes
(1) haystack

(1) part of an apple
(1) string cheese

(6) veggie/pasta salad
(3) corn muffin with a smidgen of butter
(2) pudding

24 total 20 + 4 exercise AP's
3 dairy
4 f/v
over 100 oz. water

Jane, I enjoyed shopping at Publix when we were in Florida. It beat standing in those horrendous lines at the Walmart (the hazards of a popular vacation spot?!)

Amy, I guestimated on the pizza, but I think for a whole slice it was like 7 or 8 points, and I didn't have really half of a piece so.... :sunny:

Kate, thanks so much for the wonderful advice. I know it is a long term process and consistency is really the key, I just need to keep reminding myself. From reading your journal, I see that you are really good about eating at least 5 f/v a day. I know I should do this, but don't. I am also going to have to get the Laughing cow cheese. It looks like a great versatile food item to have around.

Wow, you are really racking up those exercise minutes! And your eating looks fantastic. I can't believe you can eat a couple bites of pizza or part of an apple. What great discipline. With me it's all or nothing... :confused3

I love summer, and I very seldom complain about the heat, but IT'S HOT OUT THERE! 96 here today, and supposed to stay warm all week.

On Thursday I'm headed to Nebraska for a long weekend with some friends, and it has been like 101 there, I hope the lake hasn't dried up!! :rotfl2:

Yesterday I think I used most of my flex points for the week. DH had his company picnic, they provided the food, and I ate it!
They did have a large fruit tray, and veggie salad, but I also ate a big messy cheeseburger with the works. And of course chips and pretzels, which I normally don't eat many of, but for some reason I overdid it! Tasted good, but afterwards I was sorry to have wasted all the points on one meal! The lunch was at 1:00, so when we got home later in the day (6:30) by 7:00 everyone still wanted dinner, so we cleaned out the fridge and had leftover night. Not a great day foodwise, but I did run early in the morning before the picnic, and did a bit of swimming, so maybe that helped.

Today is another day! :sunny:
Saturday:
(0) coffee
(3) Fiber One, yogurt, blueberries

(10?) cheeseburger
(5) small amounts of fruit/veggies and various salads
(6) potato chips and pretzels
(0) diet Sprite

(2) a little bit of leftover pasta/veggie salad
(2) small bowl of leftover chicken noodle soup

(2) chocolate pudding

30 total points
(20 + 3 AP's + 7 flex used)
45 minutes running + slow swimming
3 dairy
3 f/v

Amy, I have to keep exercising or start eating less. No contest there!!

Anna, I do attempt to follow the WW guidelines about the f/v and dairy. I didn't do that in the beginning, but over time, I have found it helps. If I really concentrate on choosing things from those categories there isn't much room left for other 'junky' stuff. (Except at picnics with hamburgers and chips!!!LOL)

That cheeseburger sounded good! At least you got in some swimming that day. Looks like you did great for a company picnic. The hard part is that the food sits out for several hours so you're always being tempted!

It looks like Nebraska and KY are hotter than Florida. You may want to come down here to cool off. My thermostat is reading 92. ( With all of the rain we've been having I feel like I'm living in a steam room.)

You didn't do THAT bad at the picnic! At least you counted your points and kept track of everything instead of giving up and having a free-for-all. And that's what your Flex points are for, right?

Great job getting the workout in. Hopefully you will find some time to exercise while on your trip! I think the rest of the country is feeling what we in AZ feel every summer... :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

DH's company picnic was just one meal and you did a great job compensating with your eating and exercising the rest of the day.

What's up with the heat and humidity pretty much all across the country

Have fun on your trip.
