Day 5--Monday, August 1, 2005
I woke up early so I could make the most out of my final hours at Walt Disney World. I packed up my things, checked out, and walked over to MGM. Once again, I got stuck behind a problem to get in. The guy two people in front of me had his ticket get stuck in the machine. Rather than say anything, he just walked in to the park, not bothering to get his ticket. His wife stuck her ticket in, but it wouldn't accept it. A cast member figured out there was a ticket in the machine and basically accused them of trying to get two people in on the same ticket, even though she had two tickets in her hand. The cast member and the woman got into a heated argument--the cast member wasn't going to let the lady in. After a few minutes, I merged in with the other way and just got away from that mess.
I finally made it through the gate at MGM, and headed towards the Rock 'N Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror. I grabbed a Fast Pass for the Tower of Terror, and got in line for the Rock 'N Roller Coaster. I was on the Rock 'N Roller Coaster within ten minutes. By the time I got off, the line for the Tower of Terror was already 30 minutes, so I browsed in some shops until it was Fast Pass time. I bought myself a Goofy Christmas ornament for my collection (I have over 50 different Goofy Christmas ornaments).
I then headed over to the Tower of Terror. I wound up getting a rather tame sequence--probably the worst sequence I've ever had on the ride. It was borderline boring.
After the Tower of Terror, I started to walk towards Epcot. It was pretty hot, so I slowed my pace and enjoyed the walk, stopping and sitting on a bench at the Boardwalk for a while, and again at Seabreeze Point. I never tire of the view of the Boardwalk and the Yacht & Beach Club from Seabreeze Point. If I ever get married, I want to have my wedding ceremony at Seabreeze Point.
Once through the gates of the International Gateway, I made my way towards Soarin' to see about getting a fast pass. The fast pass return time was after 3:00, the same time I was being picked up for my return to the airport.
Another ride on Soarin' would have to wait for my next trip.
I then headed to Le Cellier for lunch. I have to have my cheddar cheese soup.
The soup was delcious as ever--I love dunking the breadsticks in the soup. For my entree, I ordered the petite filet mignon with cream cheese mashed potatoes. The filet was very tender and tasty. The cream cheese mashed potatoes were amazing. I didn't have room for dessert.
After lunch, I headed over to Norway to ride on the Maelstrom, and browsed around in Mouse Gears for a bit. As I left Mouse Gears, and took a right towards Test Track, a familiar face was walking towards me. It was Scotty's younger brother David. David works for DVC, and he was manning a booth and answering people's questions about DVC. I was plesantly surprised when Dave stopped me, and we chatted for a few minutes about the concert and Scotty. Dave had to get back to work, so we said goodbye and hugged each other.
I then jumped in the single riders line for Test Track, and was on the ride within 15 minutes. I was going to go on Mission Space as well, but the ride was experiencing technical difficulites, and I didn't really have time to wait for it. So, I began a leisurely walk back towards the Swan to get my Quicksilver towncar to the airport.
While I was waiting for my towncar, I got a call from Quicksilver alerting me that the driver was running a few minutes late after running into some bad weather near the airport. I was very impressed that they called me right away to let me know that the driver was running late.
When the driver arrived, we were off to the airport, and we ran into a bad band of thunder storms. The rain was coming down so hard that you couldn't see a car half length in front of you. It was pretty scary--the most thrilling ride of my trip.
When I arrived at the airport, I saw that my JetBlue flight was delayed by about 90 minutes. It turns out that JetBlue was having computer problems that was affecting their flights nation wide. My flight finally took off two hours behind schedule. The next day, JetBlue sent me an e-mail explaining the delay and apologizing for the inconvienence with a voucher for $50 towards my next flight. What a great thing to see an airline be proactive when problems arise!
I finally arrived home at 10:15, tired from another busy weekend, but I sure had a lot of fun! Despite the heat, and the crowds that kept me from going on many attractions, I had one of my best trips ever to WDW, and that is mostly because of Scotty and his brothers.
