Day 5--Monday, December 8, 2003
I woke up early to meet Mouseaholic and Baveria at the Beach Club so that we could go to the different resorts to check out the Christmas decorations. After viewing the carousel at the Beach Club, we headed to the Yacht Club to check out their Gingerbread display.
Mouseaholic drove us to the Wilderness Lodge to see the decorations there. The tree at the Wilderness Lodge was beautiful! It was neat to just stand there and look up at all of the beautiful decorations. We grabbed a quick breakfast at Roaring Forks (I wasn't hungry, so I just got a bag of pretzels).
Mouseaholic then drove us over to the Contemporary. At this point, I was very annoyed because I was wearing a pair of bad socks. They kept on sliding down into my shoes, and I just couldn't stand it anymore! It became my quest to buy socks. Well, Disney can't sell you just one pair of socks, so I had to shell out $12 for two pairs of white socks with Mickey and Minnie on them. I was annoyed that I had to buy two pairs, but at least my feet were comfy again.
We were very disappointed by the lack of decorations inside the Contemporary. They were pretty much noexistant.
We then took the monorail over to the Polynesian. Once again, we were disappointed by the lack of decorations inside the Polynesian. We walked out and looked at the pool and enjoyed the view from the beach for a few minutes.
We then took the monorail to the Grand Floridian, and stood on the second floor balcony enjoying the view of the tree and the Gingerbread House. We took the elevator to the main level so Mouseaholic could buy some Gingerbread cookies.
We had our picture taken at the Gingerbread house. When I asked a dad to take our picture, he said only if we traded off. So, I told him that I would happily give my two adults for his two kids. The mom told the kids they would be going home with me, and they looked a bit nervous for a minute. I thought it would have been a pretty good trade--at least until the kids would have started whining for more souvenirs, then I'd want my adults back. We didn't end up completing the kids for adults transaction, but we did take a picture of each other in front of the Gingerbread house.
We walked around outside, enjoying the grounds of the Grand Floridian and checking out the pool. I threatened to run through the water spouts near the pool, but didn't end up doing it because it was too chilly out to walk around in wet clothes.
I said goodbye to Mouseaholic and Baveria in the monorail. They were going back to their respective resorts, and I decided to stop at the Magic Kingdom for an hour, as I had lunch reservations at the Kona Cafe and didn't want to go all the way back to the Boardwalk, only to turn around and come back. I made plans to meet up with Baveria later in the day to do some shopping, and hit MGM for a couple of hours.
Before going into the Magic Kingdom, I called to check in at home again. When I was talking to my sister, I spotted One_Cat and his family. I quickly told my sister I had to go so that I could catch up with the One_Cats so that I could see his adorable twin sons. The boys were a bit shy and cranky, but they were the cutest kids I saw at Disney World all week.
I then spent about a half hour finishing taping the Mickey statues (I think I got all 75 of them), and browsed the shops before taking the monorail to the Kona Cafe.
I had a Connections voucher for my meal at the Kona Cafe, so I started off with Sticky Wings. The wings were awesome. Very tasty, and there were a tone of them. And I ate every last one of them. The waitress was nice enough to bring me a wet towel to wash my hands with, too. I ordered the Beef Teriyaki Salad for my entree. It was good, but the dressing was a bit bland. There wasn't very much beef in it either. For dessert, I got the Koko Puffs, which were incredible. I couldn't even eat them all!
While I was eating, Baveria came to join me. We then drove to Downtown Disney to do some shopping. I bought myself a few things at the World of Disney, and used my Disney Visa Rewards card to pay for some of it. I also stopped at the Virgin Megastore to pick up a copy of my favorite piano guy Scotty's CD for the band he is in with his brothers--The Kilwein Family Tree-o. I have the CD, and it's really good. One of my co-workers asked me to pick her up a copy as well.
We then went to Disney/MGM Studios. We went on the Tower of Terror, Rock 'N Roller, and Star Tours. We were going to go on the Great Movie Ride, but there was a 20 minute wait and neither of us really felt like waiting for it.
We then drove back to the Boardwalk and parted ways. Baveria headed over to Epcot, and I went to my room to take a short break. I grabbed a meatball sub from the Boardwalk Pizza shop before heading to my room. It was very yummy, and very filling. I got mozerella cheese on it.
I spent a bit of time in my room packing, as I was leaving the next day. I then went to Epcot. I road on Mission Space and Test Track. I then went to ride the boat rides in Mexico and Norway. I walked around the world, browsing in shops along the way, and watching some of the holiday storytellers.
I then headed over to Jellyrolls for my final time during my trip. Tommy and Jason, and Christian and Drew were the pairs. I was pretty tired from so many late nights and early mornings, so I pretty much just veged in the back for a couple of hours. As I was getting ready to leave, I left a ten on Tommy's piano with a note thanking them for the week. Tommy waved to me, as I stood in the back watching the last song I'd see on my trip. When the song ended, Tommy said goodbye to me from the stage, and said I was the last remaining person from the Dis. Some of the staff at the bar also stopped me to say goodbye as I left. I guess everyone there knows me now.
I slowly walked back to my room, taking time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Boardwalk, wishing I could stop time so I wouldn't have to go home tomorrow. I did some more packing and crashed by midnight, the earliest bed time of my entire trip.
