Day 6—Thursday, December 9, 2004

I met KristaTX, Towncrier, and ASFCurly at MGM shortly before 9:00. As soon as the rope dropped, we walked over to Tower of Terror to grab fast passes. I heard someone say my name behind me, and turned to see Matt’sMom with her son Matt and some friends. We wound up heading over to the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster together. It was so early that there were no lines, so we all road it twice.

We then headed over to Tower of Terror, and got in the standby line for a ride. We really had a fun time on the ride. Towncrier screamed at one point in the ride, and Matt’sMom’s friend yelled, “Don’t be a girl.” It was a lot of fun riding with a group of friends who really loved the ride.

We then used our fast passes and got in line for the Tower of Terror again. I was sitting between Matt and Towncrier. I tried to position my hands to give them both bunny ears for the picture, but I just didn’t get it right (plus KristaTX had pushed my arm a bit so she could strangle Towncrier in the picture). While we were waiting for the elevator door to open, Towncrier suggested that as soon as the door open we scream on the top of our lungs. When the door opened, we all screamed, and the cast member standing there was surprised by our screams.

After riding the Tower of Terror, we said goodbye to Matt’sMom, Matt, and their friends and headed to the Great Movie Ride. On our way there, we ran into Snowwark and her friend Gina (I can’t remember Gina’s DIS name). We chatted with them, and continued our trek to the Great Movie Ride. Snowwark and Gina got in line shortly after us, and wound up sitting one row behind us.

After the ride, we headed to the 50’s Prime Time Café for lunch with the Yaya folks—there were 21 of us in all. Let’s see if I can remember everyone. It was me, KristaTX with her mom Kay, Towncrier, CrazyBoutDisney, DaveH, Helenabear and her hubby Luis, TigerLily03 and her hubby Ted, 4GreatBoys with her five great boys, Dan Murphy, PKRoch with her parents, and Poohnatic. We almost filled an entire room at the restaurant—there was one table for four left for the poor folks who would get stuck with our rowdiness.

I sat at a table with Kay, TigerLily03, and Ted. I started my meal with a cup of chicken soup, followed by a chicken sandwich. The soup was very good—lots of chicken chunks, noodles and veggies—very tasty. The chicken sandwich was good, but nothing to write home about. Everyone else at our table got the pot roast, and they all seemed to enjoy it. TigerLily03 and Kay also got chocolate malts, and they both enjoyed them. I told our server, Auntie Claire, that Lily got chocolate malt on the formica, and Auntie Claire scolded me for being a tattletale. Auntie Claire repeatedly scolded Ted, Kay, and I for having our elbows on the table—I guess Lily is the only one at our table who had good table manners.

I treated our table to S’mores for dessert. They were very yummy. That is definitely a dessert for sharing! I don’t think one person could eat an entire plate of s’mores in one seating. They sure were yummy!

After lunch, KristaTX, KayTX, DanMurphy, and I headed over to Epcot, where we planned on going to a Mousefest meet. On our way to the meet, we ran into KathyTX. I always notice folks wearing the birthday buttons, and always say Happy Birthday to them when I see them. Well, KathyTX suggested we take it one step further, and we actually sang Happy Birthday to a few people that day at Epcot. But we gave them something to remember from there trip. We ran into Perfect Match 3000 and her hubby, and we all road on Spaceship Earth together.

We then headed over to the Hidden Mickey meet with Steve Barrett at Epcot. We met in front of Spaceship Earth. Steve’s sister handed out pamphlets with pictures of some Hidden Mickey’s, and everyone was supposed to try to find them. Steve even had prizes for the first two people who finished. We wound up changing our minds about doing the hunt, so with TigerLily03 and her hubby now joining us, we decided to head over to Ice Station Cool for a refreshing cup of Beverly.

On our way to Ice Station Cool, we ran into KarenNY, NativeTxn, and a couple of their friends (whose names escape me at the moment). We were going to take a group picture, and Max, who worked at the hat stand near the Electric Umbrella, suggested that we all don silly hats for the picture. We all picked out hats, and another great cast member—Gil—took pictures with several of our cameras.

We said goodbye to KarenNY, NativeTxn, and friends, and headed over to Ice Station Cool. Towncrier actually headed over there before the rest of us, and we found him sucking down Beverly straight from the tap. OK, not really, but I swear Towncrier loves Beverly—he drinks more of the stuff than I’ve ever seen anyone else.

I then headed back towards the Swan with KathyTX and Dan Murphy. KathyTX and I lucked out and scored free tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party thanks to KristaTX, so we both wanted to stop back at the Swan and get ready for another night out.

I met Kathy in the lobby of the Swan to catch a bus to the Magic Kingdom. We arrived at the Magic Kingdom around 6:00, and we were herded to Tomorrowland with the rest of the party-goers. We went on Buzz Lightyear, where we met the most adorable little boy named Wilson. Wilson was very excited about the ride, and he kept on giving us high fives and thumbs up.

We then went on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. I always enjoy this ride. It’s just so relaxing to sit there for a few minutes.

We then headed over towards Adventureland. I made a pitstop along the way, and while in the ladies room, I heard someone say something you just don’t want to hear when you are in the rest room—“Mmm. That smells good.” Needless to say, I spent the rest of the trip telling everyone what I heard in the ladies room.

When I came out of the ladies room, I realized that KathyTX had found a few more DISers to hang out with—Snowwark, Old Kicker, Gina, and Diane something or other and her husband. It was still too early to get into Adventureland, so we made our way over to Tomorrowland.

We decided to go on Buzz Lightyear. Old Kicker and I both claimed to be the worst Buzz Lightyear players ever, so we decided to ride together. Well, let me tell you, riding with Old Kicker was enough to help me improve my game. I had gotten around 8,000 points my first ride of the night. When I was riding with Old Kicker, I got 56,400! I was sooooooo excited. Old Kicker had somewhere in the neighborhood of 5,000 points. Oh, we played by slightly different rules. I decided that OldKicker and I would get 50,000 bonus points for hitting Snowwark in the head with the laser—I think I got at least 200,000 extra points for the Snowwark bonus, and Old Kicker got some as well.

We then went over and road Space Mountain. After Space Mountain, the rest of the park had opened, so we headed over to Frontierland to ride on Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain. The water level was really high at Splash Mountain. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten that wet on Splash Mountain. The back splash just flooded the boat.

After Splash Mountain, KathyTX and I said goodbye to the rest of the group. They had met up with Gina’s husband and son, and decided to go on Splash Mountain again. I was feeling a bit too soggy, so I decided to skip it.

KathyTX and I headed to Pecos Bill’s to grab a bite to eat. I used a Quick and Casual voucher, so I got a cheeseburger with bacon, chocolate cream pie, and a diet coke. Pecos Bill’s is my favorite counter service restaurant in the World. They have the best condiment bar there. I love getting cheese sauce for my fries, and although I don’t eat them, the onions and mushrooms are a nice option.

After dinner, KathyTX and I took a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean. On the way out of Pirates, I found a toy soldier Goofy beanie baby that was special merchandise for the party. He was sooooo cute that I just had to have him. I told the cast member who sold him to me that he was my favorite person that day because he sold me Goofy. I carried Goofy around proudly the rest of the evening (probably embarrassing Kathy along the way).

There was no line for Aladdin’s Magic Carpets, so KathyTX, Goofy, and I decided to take a spin. I made Goofy wave to all of the cast members, and they all talked to them. I also made sure that Goofy was tucked safely into his seatbelt for the ride. Since there were no people waiting in line we were able to stay on for a second spin.

We then headed over to the Rose Garden to meet all of the Mousefest people for Wishes. We ran into tons of DISers at the Rose Garden. We wound up grabbing a spot next to the Zurg clan to watch the fireworks. It was interesting watching the fireworks for that angle. You don’t see the fireworks shooting up behind the castle—you saw them next to the castle. It was a good spot, but I think I prefer to be in front of the castle. It's a lot of fun watching fireworks with Zurg, though. He just gets sooooo excited about them.

KathyTX, Goofy, and I said goodbye to the Zurgs, and headed over to get out picture taken. While we were in line, we ran into KristaTX and Towncrier. They had just had their picture taken, and told us they would wait until we had our picture taken. Kathy, Goofy, and I took a pretty decent picture that night, although the color was a bit on the faded side.

After the pictures, I said goodbye to everyone. I had plans to meet Travellin’ Tigger over at Jellyrolls, as my guys Scotty and Ray were playing. I arrived at Jellyrolls in time to catch Scotty and Ray’s second set of the evening. I put a $10 down to hear Scotty sing Buttercup, but since they had already played it, Scotty chose to sing “Happy Together” for me instead.

I was also forced to endure an hour of watching Drew at Jellyrolls. I just don’t enjoy watching Drew perform. I think he is very arrogant, and lacks personality. He just lacks the energy and personality that the rest of the piano players have. I think he seems bored onstage whenever I see him.

It was pretty dead in Jellyrolls this night. By the end of the night, Travellin’ Tigger and I were the only people sitting on Scotty’s side of the room. When I talked to Scotty at the end of the night, he told me that it’s nice when I’m there because some nights I’m the only one who is on his side, and I joked, “Like tonight.” I’ve never seen the place quite that empty.

Before they left the stage, Ray joked that “Karen has been here since November.” I told him that I bought into DVC at the Boardwalk, and that my friends have been joking that they should put in a spiral staircase from a room to Jellyrolls just for me. Ray asked me if they could take breaks in my room, and Scotty joked that he was going to timeshare the tables at Jellyrolls out to me.

Travellin’ Tigger and I finally made it back to the Swan at about 2:00 a.m., and that bed sure felt comfy after another busy day.

I managed to lose all my pictures from that day (and break my camera in the process). I borrowed (stole?) these pictures from Dan Murphy's thread here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=695858 . Thanks, Dan :teeth:.

Thanks for stealing the pictures. I got a little too excited about the s'mores and stuck my nose right in them.

Honestly, she did tell EVERYONE that throughout the whole rest of the trip!!!

Now if I had heard that in the same spot where I had the best sandwich ever, that would be a diffrent story.

Seriously, every trip I take seems to have a story or a catch phrase. This one was "mmmm that smells good."
