Day 7—Friday, December 10, 2004

Travellin’ Tigger and I woke up early in the morning. We got ready, and headed over to the Boardwalk Bakery for breakfast. I got a cinnamon roll, and Travellin’ Tigger got a cinnamon yummy. My cinnamon roll was very sweet and gooey. Very delicious.

After breakfast, I said goodbye to Travellin’ Tigger and headed to the Magic Kingdom. As I walked down Main Street, I ran into Mouseaholic and her friend Joan. I wound up hanging around with them. Our first stop was Space Mountain, followed by Mickey’s Philharmagic. We then went to Thunder Mountain. After Thunder Mountain, Mouseaholic and I went on Splash Mountain.

I then said goodbye to Mouseaholic and Joan, and went to try to get on the Jungle Cruise. There was a long line, so I grabbed a fast pass, and headed over to Tomorrowland to get a spicy cheese pretzel at the Lunching Pad. As I made my way to Tomorrowland, it started raining pretty hard, so I decided that the Jungle Cruise would have to wait for my next trip. I headed out of the Magic Kingdom, and walked over to the Contemporary to catch a bus to Downtown Disney. I just missed a Downtown Disney bus, so I had a long wait until the next one.

When I got to Downtown Disney, I headed to the Earl of Sandwich to meet Travellin’ Tigger for lunch. I got an original Roast beef sandwich—substituting ranch dressing for the horseradish sauce—and a side salad. Travellin’ Tigger got a tuna melt. My sandwich was fantastic—as good as I remembering it being when I had one in October. I heard that they are planning to open Earl of Sandwich restaurants in other parts of the country, and I hope they put one here in Boston.

CrazyBoutDisney came to meet us at Earl of Sandwich. When Travellin’ Tigger and I were done eating, CrazyBoutDisney and I said goodbye to Travellin’ Tigger, and hit the shops. We went to the World of Disney, which was extremely crowded. I didn’t buy a thing in there, and left pretty quickly. We also checked out the everything under $10 store, and I didn’t see anything of interest there either. We then went to the Christmas store—no new Goofy ornaments, so no new purchases for me. We then went to the scrapbooking store, where I bought a Christmas scrapbook, a page kit, a couple of Christmas cards, and some gift tags.

I ran into Mouseaholic for the second time this day. I joked with her about following me around.

CrazyBoutDisney and I then headed over to Ghiardelli’s for ice cream. We spotted TigerLily03’s husband Ted waiting in line. He told us that Lily was in the rest room, so I stood outside the restroom, and when Lily opened the door, I yelled at her that I didn’t hear the water, and told her to go back and wash her hands.

After teasing Lily, I got back in the ice cream line with CrazyBoutDisney. I had a coupon for buy one get one free sundaes. I got a caramel sundae. It was very yummy. I could have eaten two of them they were sooooo yummy.

When we were done eating our ice creams, it started to downpour, and the wind picked up. It was so windy that we saw some table umbrellas fall over and fly across the walkway. Thankfully, they didn’t hit anyone. We waited out the monsoon in Ghiardelli’s. When the storm ended, CrazyBoutDisney and I said goodbye to TigerLily03, and headed over to the candy store. I had to get some taffy (I love the banana taffy, as well as the Goofy, Donald, and Mickey taffy) and some of that powdered candy that they sell all over the place now.

I then said goodbye to CrazyBoutDisney and headed back to the Swan to get ready for another night out. I had a little time to kill before dinner, so I walked over to Epcot for a while. I caught the last set of the day by Epcot Vybe, and walked around the World Showcase for a while.

As I made my way towards the International Gateway to head to dinner, I ran into Mouseaholic for the third time in the third different location! I teased her again about following me around. It was just so weird randomly running into the same person three times in three different locations.

I then walked to the Yacht Club to have dinner at the Yacht Club Galley with CrazyBoutDisney, Tigerlily03 and her DH Ted, KathyTX and her mom NancyTX. Everyone else was there when I walked into the lobby. While we waited for our table to be ready, we listened to a storyteller near the Yacht Club Christmas tree.

When we were seated at the table, I excused myself to make a quick pit stop. We had a table overlooking the walkway to the Beach Club, so I walked the long way around and took a picture of the gang from the lobby.

I really enjoyed my meal at the Yacht Club Galley. I got a club sandwich, and it was delicious. The bread, the meat, everything about it was yummy. I opted to get fries with it, and they were the best fries I had all week. I got some crème brulee for dessert. It was the tiniest little cup of crème brulee I’ve ever seen. I really wanted the kids dessert with the cupcake and Mickey Mouse edible puzzle that you could paint, but I stuck with the crème brulee.

After dinner, I made a quick stop at the Swan, and headed over to Jellyrolls for the big meet—the event of the week that I had been highly anticipating for months. I am not going to even begin to list the DISers who came to the meet that night—there were a lot of us there, and I don’t want to leave anyone out. Tommy and Christian, and my beloved Scotty and Ray were the piano players for the evening.

Midway through the evening, one of the piano players, Tommy, read a request for Karen’s dance. The Yaya folks were trying to get me to do a Nekkid Ritual Dance. So, I jumped up onstage, and Tommy let me pick two friends to come onstage with me. My first choice was VickyBaby, who is rumored to have danced on tables at Kimonos in previous years, so I knew she would be a good person to have by my side for my 15 seconds of fame at Jellyrolls. My other choice was the DISer who had been my partner in crime for much of the trip—KathyTX.

I whispered in Tommy’s ear that if they made me do the chicken dance, I would be walking. So, Tommy decided to make us do the Tree Dance. Christian got up and showed us how to do the dance. For those of you who don’t know what the tree dance is, well, it’s a kids song that talks about a bird in a nest in a tree in the wood, and the green grass grew all around all around, and the green grew all around. It was fun being onstage at my favorite bar with two fun DISers—the only thing that would have made it better would be if my beloved Scotty and Ray were onstage when it happened (that’s the way it was planned to happen, but it didn’t quite work out).

ILuvDisney handed out flashing rings to all of the ladies in our group, and they were the hit of the night. Ray commented on how he liked the way our group came with toys, and in costumes (many of us donned Christmas headgear for the evening). There were some woman who really wanted to get their hands on those rings. NativeTxn was nice enough to give one of them a ring, and the other two proceeded to pretty much beg everyone else to sell the rings to them—the price kept on going up and up. I was offered $10 for my two rings. None of us were willing to sell the rings, but it didn’t stop the ladies from repeatedly asking us to sell them. I was half waiting for them to jump out and mug me for the rings when I left the bar that night.

I really had a fantastic time at Jellyrolls that night. It really was the best night of my trip. It was a great evening of singing, dancing, tequila shots (for some), and being with a great group of people. At the end of the night, I asked Scotty and Ray if I could get a picture with two of my favorite people, and thanked them again for another great week at the bar.

Great day, and a great report! Thanks for sharin'!

Read & enjoyed all your trip reports! What a blast you all must've had that night!

It was a blast that night for me. I'm not to frequent bars but I consider Jelly Rolls one fun place and a must on every trip since you talked me into checking it out last spring Karen! It was great to be part of the fun that night and I'm glad that the rings were remembered - I knew DISers would appreciate such a fun item. We could have made a killing with them if I had more to leave with you had I known that people would be bidding on them!

Thanks for sharing all of your trip with us - it was great to read your adventures each day! And you always put a smile on my face when I ran into you - you're a fun person to spend time with at WDW!!!

It was fun hanging with you, too, Mary! I think one of the funner moments of the trip (even though I didn't write about it in my trip report) was when I ran into you at Epcot and pretended not to recognize you. :)

I told Scotty that most of the folks I send over to Jellyrolls end up being repeat vicitms.

Karen

That was funny Karen. But I have to tell you that you scared me for a moment and I thought "this girl has no idea who I am!!!" What a laugh we both had afterwards tho!

You know me, Mary. Always joking around :)

That was so much fun - and meeting more people from DIS made the night complete!! Karen, along with VickyBaby and KathyTX, had her "15 seconds of fame" (actually more like 5 minutes) and "Shout" was outrageously fun, thanks to Karen and VickyBaby - and I have photos to prove it!

Mary -
Thanks so much for the rings - they were one of the highlights of the night!! It was funny watching that drunk blonde trying so hard to get one of us to part with them - glad to see nobody folded under the pressure. In fact, I took my ring out and wore it to celebrate the New Year. I'll also be bringing it back for another visit to Jellyrolls next Dec.

Barbara, glad you flew out for the meet! It sure was a blast.

Karen
