Kali River Rapids refurb extended

Disagree. It's poorly designed. My reference is Fury of the Nile at Worlds of Fun. Multiple opportunities to get wet (which is fine with me). Kali is slow boat ride--TIDAL WAVE--slow boat ride. Boring, IMHO.
Ok, maybe as a raft ride it's a poor design. But, it is not a poor design because someone gets soaked. My comment was in reference to that, not to compare it to other raft rides

THIS!
Does anyone know what they are doing to the ride? I have also felt like it's kind of lackluster attraction, for all the reasons stated above. I was hoping for so much more.

Unfortunately nothing. It is a lackluster attraction. It's extremely boring. It's nothing but a slow raft ride that turns slowly and bumps into the sides a little bit. It's a horribly designed attraction. The anticipation of either getting real wet, or completely drenched is the only excitement. Some people don't care about the 2 options of real wet, or drenched so they ride it. Others do and they don't. It only has lines because it has a low volume loading system. What makes it most unfortunate is that without riding the attraction, AK is truly a half day park at best, which increases the crowds at other parks, especially at the MK. Fortunately, Disney is trying to rectify the problem by adding the River of Lights and the stupid Avatar Land, though unfortunately neither will be open by our next trip.

Wow, you really hate AK, don't you? May I suggest going to Universal? Or Busch Gardens?

Not every attraction at WDW is built for 'excitement' - and for that I think they are brilliant. WDW has something for almost everyone, and every type of group, family, etc.

Oh, and heaven forbid anyone actually think for a minute on Kali about deforestation, etc. So many people missing the point...

Can't wait for the global warming attraction next, maybe they'll have a few starving Polar Bears chasing the rafts.

Agree with your first two points. However, the level of education on deforestation bestowed upon the WDW guest who rides Kali doesn't go far beyond some burned down trees and the (impressive)use of odors by WDI.

But there's someone else on the thread complaining that they hate getting wet, that they prefer Splash Mountain because you just get splashed. So do you make it more tame to make that person happy, or give more opportunities to get wet, as you would like? Disney has gone for something in the middle, I assume in an attempt to please the majority of people.

I haven't ridden Kali in years because my son has always been too small, but we go to AK more than we go to any other park. My son LOVES this park, actually so do I. This summer I think he'll be tall enough for Kali so maybe we'll give it a try again.
Please don't assume I dislike AK. It's a wonderful park. I just feel KRR could have been SO much more.

I may be wrong, but I thought in the beginning there was supposed to be more to Kali. A more structured story line about deforestation or something. I might be thinking of the rapids ride out at CA (grizzly something) though.

It starts off as a quiet ride through the rainforest, beautiful, quiet, peaceful. Then you get to the deforestation part - hot, smelly, burning, the water starts to get rough. Then it builds to the drop, a bit more rough water afterwards, the squirty elephants at the bridge, and it ends.
