I've heard you just get drenched on the River Rapids. We are going a half day at the end of the month. I'm not too concerned about clothes as hoping it is still in the 80's but many have mentioned how horrible it is to walk around with wet shoes.

I am thinking we'll all be in tennis shoes. Has anyone ever taken a kitchen garbage bag and put their feet in it? The only other alternative I can think of is to bring an alternate pair of shoes and I really hate to do that. Any other ideas?

Your feet can get very very wet. You can either wrap them in garbage bags or take some flip flops and change before you get on the ride.

I usually wear flip flops so its not that big if a deal if they get wet. But most people just take them off, and the ride has a dry cover in the middle of the boat and you can put them there. And you can put other things that you may not want wet in there also.

Flip flops are a good idea. They used to let you take your shoes off and store them in the bin in the middle of the raft-I am not sure why they stopped allowing that. You WILL get wet, so bring the flip flops!

::MickeyMo We wore ponchos, LoL. And as for our feet, we put them up on the circular bar in the center, where you can put your bags and stuff. I wore socks and sneakers and came out dry as a bone (we had learned the hard way the year before). ::MinnieMo

::yes::
We did that and the only person who had wet shoes was DD who can not keep her feet up on the bar (disability). Even my mom, who was soaked to the skin, had dry shoes.

From what I have heard, the reasons they stopped letting people put their shoes in the middle compartment was that they take up so much space there was not room for people's bags, some people were getting on and off the ride with bare feet, some people tried to change in or out of their shoes in the boarding area.

If I ever get to do it again, I am bringing a change of everything! I was one of the ones to get drenched and it ruined the rest of my day since I can't stand being wet! Flip flops are a great to just throw on before the ride.

My shoes have gotten wet even on the circular bar, I was sitting right near where the cut-out is to get into the raft and the water just rushed right in.
After that I started bringing my flip flops in my back pack, and I change from my sneakers just before getting in line.

we did Kali just last week for the first time.. I was scared before this trip!!

All three of us had dry feet - sneakers and socks - it was a very very refreshing ride since we were already sopping wet and sweating from the heat and humidity all day long in AK!

Wet?? I wish I'd gotten wetter! I do better getting wet on a ride than wet from the heat!!!

I agree with the flip flops, or crocs. They dry nicely.
Am I the only one on the planet who did not get that wet on our Kali ride? I was almost scared to ride b/c of all the warnings and stuff I had read/saw on TV. The only part of me that was wet was my behind from setting in a wet seat, same for the other 3 in our party. :( We even rode it a few times.

::MickeyMo I was so happy I decided to wear a poncho. We had gone on the previous year and I got so drenched I was miserable the rest of the day. It took about 5 hours to completely dry, not even exaggerating. This time when we wore the ponchos we were the envy of the raft. Good thing too because we would've gotten soaked again! ::MinnieMo

I was on Kali yesterday and kept my feet on the bar , no problem. I was wet but dried in time for my flight home. If you hate wet feet than bring flip flops!!! Have fun!

Just went on this ride 2X this past Friday. We broght flip flops and put them on before the ride. I'm glad we did. I got wet but my DD and DS got soaked and my DH got DRENCHED! The waistband of his jean shorts were still wet 10 hours later! No kidding! And the weather was hot (upper 80's/low 90's) and sunny. :goodvibes Did this early in the day about 10am (NO LINES AT ALL!)

Heck--getting wet is about the only fun part of this way too short ride!!!
Always had success in keeping feet on the bar. Once in awhile my tennis shoes get a little wet, but not wet enough to make any real difference.

Don't worry. If your feet get wet, Disney will come to the rescue. They have carts set up right outside the exit to Kali and they will gladly sell you shoes and socks!!!

It took me 4 trips before I braved up enough to do Kali. I knew we would be doing AK in 1/2 day so I planned for us to do Kali right before we left to go back to the resort. (we take breaks in the middle of the day back to the resort all the time) so we got wet (but it felt good) our feet were up on the middle and didn't get wet. I agree the ride is too short. I just can't believe I didn't do it the other times I went!!
