Kali River Question

Does anyone know if you have to wear beach sandals that have a strap on them for this ride? Or can you just wear the slip on kind? Thanks.

you can wear either kind - the only requirement is that you have to wear some type of shoes while on the ride.

It doesn't matter-just be prepared to get wet! Although when our family went on this ride-my mother got soaked-I hardly got wet. It doesn't even mattter where you sit, it just depends how the ride turns you in the water!

I went on this last year for first time. I was soaked. Be prepared. One or two people in every boat get hit with a wave that comes over ur head. Others on the ride barely got damp.

I got hit with the wave. And out of that experience, I can say that you should be more worried about what type of shorts you are wearing. I had on jean shorts that day (totally not thinking) and it took forever for them to dry and it was very uncomfortable walking around.

Of course, I could have bought the $34.99 shorts a the clothing stand right outside of Kali if I Really wanted dry shorts.....

ive been on that ride 2 times, 2 seperate years with 2 seperate groups of people and i have managed both times to get SOAKED so like the above posters said, either type of shoe is okay as long as its a shoe. but if you are sitting in the wet seat-it isnt going to matter ...im hoping this year to get a dryer seat

That's why I always wear a poncho on Kali - it sure beats walking around with wet shorts the rest of the day.

That is why, in 7 trips to AK, we have never been on this ride. Thank goodness the kids either don't notice it, or don't want to get wet.

last trip we got totally soaked on this ride. the only place i didnt get water was in my ears, so the odds are you are going to get soaked. if you can wear sandals at AK and they dont bother your feet walking n them, then it a good idea to wear them on this attraction. this way you can remove them and place them n the water tight container in the middle of the ride.

what i would worry most about are certain types of clothing. my wife wont wear anything white or sheer because it will become fairly transparent when you get wet. so be careful about what you wear.

the odds are youre gonna get wet, so enjoy it. we had such a blast that we were able to just get on it again right away. we were laughing like little kids. it was worth the walking around for a few hours being wet. hey its florida and its hot so youre gonna be wet from the sweat anyway.

Although you may get wet, soaked or somewhat wet with a poncho, it is one of the best rides. Just plain fun. Please don't skip it because of the water.

Either...you will get drenched. There's also a place to put belongings/shoes in the center of the ride.

I wear my flips all around the world, including this ride. And I too have managed to be in the magic seat almost every time I've ridden Kali! It's kind of nice on an August afternoon but I didnt' even dare ride it in February. A wet butt from Splash was bad enough.

We went on this ride last year in Aug for first time and all 4 of us loved it. We rode it just as a rain storm started. I got soaked first time round and then second time we rode it, rest of family got soaked. So by time we got off, we were all soaked, but it was also pouring rain, so either way we were doomed! Our strategy this year is to make it our last ride of the day, so if we're soaked, all we're doing is walking out of park to car and back to hotel anyways!

Uh, yah, that would be ME that you are referring to!! For fun last August we rode KRR 9 times in a row in the evening just to see if weight placement, seating configurations or the rotation of the planet had any impact on who was hit with the tidal wave of water.

Well, after 9 consecutive rides with every seating configuration possible, it was scientifically proven that I am a tidal wave magnet!!! I left that day wondering what the ride was like if you are facing downhill during the drop?? Guess I will never know.

Yep. Had that problem there as well. Ended up buying $25 beach towel in the gift shop because it was December and I was drenched and cold. I used to wear ponchos but the poncho is no match for the tidal wave of water...right down the neck hole and arm holes!

Now we just save Kali for the end of the day when the line is gone and we can ride it over and over and then drip dry back to the hotel.

I buy the cheapest flipflops I can find, last year at the dollar store! I just get them for family members who wear sneaks in the parks. They put them on and after I just throw them in our bag. I also bring 2 gallon ziplock bags to put our cameras, phones etc in so they don't get wet, sometimes the pastic holder in the middle of the ride leaks

I wore my flops. The tidal wave devoured me too. I had to ring out all my clothes in the washroom. And I was worried about the humidity and my hair! My husband and kids thought this was hilarious (and they weren't the only ones), so at least I provide entertainment.

This just reminded me of our last trip on Kali, and the reason it is good to watch what you wear under your outer clothes too! I rode next to a 20ish young lady from Brazil. She was wearing white capris and ,after we took the worst of the water, we got off the ride and every teenage boy in line was pointing and giggling. Turns out she was wearing a hot pink thong under her white capris and everyone could now see it plain as day.
