Kali River Question

if you can wear sandals at AK and they dont bother your feet walking n them, then it a good idea to wear them on this attraction. this way you can remove them and place them n the water tight container in the middle of the ride.

They stopped letting you take them off for safety reasons. To ride, you must have some kind of footwear on.

Now we just save Kali for the end of the day when the line is gone and we can ride it over and over and then drip dry back to the hotel.

This is what we do also! Ride it a couple of times, then by the time we are back at our resort bus, we've stopped dripping! But we don't sit on the busses, we stand so no one sits in a puddle that we've left behind.

This is such a fun ride. I LOVE it when people are on our raft who've never been on Kali. So fun to watch there reactions. And altho I am a ride-chicken, this ride is so fun and smooth, I don't mind it at all!

it is good to watch what you wear under your outer clothes too

That reminded me of a story....way back in the 80's :scared1: I went to Great America in California and was wearing a hip, floral one piece short/jump suit thing made of 100% rayon. We rode the log ride 2 or 3 times in a row and I was drenched. About 15 minutes later I realized that my rayon outfit was DRY CLEAN only and was rapidly shrinking!! It was like when the hulk splits out of his clothes!!! :lmao: I had to buy a pair of shorts and tshirt in the gift shop!

Last year after Kali I realized I shouldn't have worn my super thin, khaki colored capris because when they got soaked they became like second skin...not so attractive on this Pooh sized mama. No thong...just granny panties!

I find this ride great right after lunch in the summer. It usually cools us down enough that we enjoy the afternoon much better.

Hehehe! :rotfl2: Such funny stories. Poor DS9 is is the tidal wave magnet for our family.

OP- Have fun riding!:wizard:

heh, we love this ride. We also love Popey and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges at Universal Islands of Adventure.

First time we rode Kali, we didnt get wet at all, and our boat was pretty dry. Second time we had on the Ponchos and we stayed wet but the chaps opposite is got quite wet.

Third time we had on Ponchos and experienced a huge wall of water come right over the top, the poncos keep off about 70% but you still get really wet.

These days we wear swimsuits as underwear and lightweight polyester microfibre shorts and tees and the ponchos for Kali.

We go on it every year we come but have only got of dry the first two times.

We never ever ride this without wearing our cheapo Dollar Tree poncho. The most fun is the look on other riders' faces when they see us wearing them. Some get a worried look and some give us the "get a load of these dummies" look. Guess who is dry after the ride.

BTW - Batman "Dark Knight" was very good.

That's why I always wear a poncho on Kali - it sure beats walking around with wet shorts the rest of the day. ;)

:thumbsup2 Me too! I went on it once without and never again. We also rent a locker to keep our ponchos and flip-flops in until we're ready to go on and then change into them. You have to walk up to the front of the park and back again but it's worth it not to have soaked clothes and especially sneakers.

I wish they had a set-up like they do at Grizzly River Rapids at CA - lockers right by the ride and they're free for up to one hour (or maybe it's 2).

Bring flip/flops, sandals or whatever to put on before you go on. A towel and a change of cloths is a good idea too. All that that came in handy for me on our last trip... my son and I got the "soaker seats". It felt like someone took a huge bucket of water and poured it on us... like three times. It was awsome. But I was happy to have a towel, a dry tee-shirt and that I had taken off my sneakers and socks and wore flip/flops.

It's a great ride. My son still talks about how we had the soaker seats and got the wettest.

I got hit with the wave. And out of that experience, I can say that you should be more worried about what type of shorts you are wearing. I had on jean shorts that day (totally not thinking) and it took forever for them to dry and it was very uncomfortable walking around.

Of course, I could have bought the $34.99 shorts a the clothing stand right outside of Kali if I Really wanted dry shorts.....:lmao: :lmao:

I agree! Next time, I will be bringing dry shorts with me. I was wearing denim shorts and it was so uncomfortable!
