Just wow

Teeth floss is better than the panties and pajama bottoms we found in our bed at the Polynesian. Bought them to the manager in a plastic bag and got a “oh thanks”. Lol. We were just happy to be on vacation than to make some big fuss that got my blood boiling
That’s how I am. If I make a fuss it sets a tone that I have a hard time letting go of. Life’s too short

so bottom line -- it sounds like going from $10/hr to $15/hr is not providing any ROI for the members?

This is why wages aren't a good long term incentive structure. What would have been interesting is to do some sort of metric with on-time readiness and also reductions for any cleanliness complaints and then award bonuses to the housekeepers that hit those numbers. An additional incentive could be given to the manager of a hotel that has the overall highest mousekeeping satisfaction.

I think that’s a big leap-they may have diligent employees and just don’t have enough of them (heck, that’s true of almost every local business where I live, whether it’s entry level or professional jobs). Paying less probably would not improve their hiring.

I agree - I think that like many businesses these days they can't hire enough staff. They're offering large signon bonuses, recruitment bonuses to existing CMs, holding job fairs....

But if you look at the Disney job postings, they only want people part time. Give people full time jobs with good pay, working conditions, and benefits. It’s not that hard

eta: I just looked again and they have full time openings now.

Oh, but they added this when they added full time:

“Full-Time requires full availability for any shift, any day, including nights, weekends, and holidays”

That isn't unusual for a tourism related position. Those aren't M-F 9-5.

Back in 2002, our first visit to our beloved VWL, we pulled down the comforter, to reveal a giant urine stain.
Nice welcome home for first visit.

Well maybe if they offered predictable shifts they could hire better and more people.
seems like they could fit at least some part time roles with college kids enrolled in hospitality programs at UCF. Obviously -- they need more bodies than that school could possibly provide -- but it would be a nice win-win for disney and college student to get some bottom level experience so that they will better appreciate staff members whenever they inevitably take on a management role.
