Please explain? :confused3

I'm a little confused, too. PIN codes are discounts that are targeted for use solely by a specific person. However, they're issued via a post card or letter, so you'd lknow if you are eligible for one. You don't call up to find if you are eligible -- you watch your mail.

From Mousesavers...

"If you are a repeat resort guest and have already subscribed to a lot of Disney lists, it's possible you have received a discount e-mail but it went into your "spam" folder or was filtered out as junk mail by your e-mail provider. However, if you are in the Disney reservations system, the discount information should be associated with your name. For that reason, when you call the Disney Reservations Center to make room reservations, it's worthwhile to make a polite inquiry. You might say something like "Would you mind checking to see if I am on the list for any room discounts? I'm afraid I may have missed a promotional e-mail." Don't bother calling about this if you have never stayed on Disney property before -- you almost certainly won't be in the system."

I would think that this would apply to a code that had been snail-mailed, as well, since anything can happen to a little post card in transit!

Hope this helps!

Not necessarily. Things get lost in the mail, Disney has old emails on file - in fact, when I made my most recent reservations they had an email from years ago on file that hasn't been active in quite some time even though I've "updated" my email on the site. The CM changed it in their system, but since so many codes are sent via email (I've recieved them at that old email before) I'd have missed any notification that there was a codethat I was eligible for. But Disney's system knows exactly who they attempt to send codes to and if you missed one, they can tell you.

I signed up on WDW web site and I receive an e-mail from them each month. They turned it into a newsletter, but the month of February I had a code I could use from the middle of April till the beginning of June. I think I could have gotten a value for $79.

In March, they let me know about the free dining package for next August till the end of Sept.

I also like the itinerary page they have. It list all the shows, attractions, resorts and you check mark what you like to see. I think the newsletter is called "Go".

When I booked my vacation a few weeks ago I asked if there were any codes attached to my name. The CM knew exactly what I was talking about and checked it for me. Unfortunately there were no codes for me at that time :(

Well I just called to a VERY friendly CM and she said that there is no pin/code next to my name. I think I called about a year and a half ago and there was one but I couldn't use it at that time. Oh well, I'll just keep waiting for AP rates. :hourglass

I never thought about folks losing PIN codes to spam filters. :lmao: Makes sense that Disney would have all that information available to them, since they have to verify the PIN codes when you try to book.

I did. Got a nice CM that new exactly what I was asking about. He said no email and no postcard codes under my name. Oh well. Was worth the try.
Buttercup :)

I've been checking w/CRO for the last 3 years & have never had a pin code associated w/my or my DH's name.

Wonder if you're a "regular", you don't make the cut?

I can't remember exactly when it was, sometime in the beginning of '05, that I called. People on here were talking about having codes/pins attached to their name so I figured I'd call. Sure enough I had one, but like I said before, I couldn't use it. I have gotten emails with specials going on, but I never got one stating that I personally had a special pin number. Now I have gotten a couple postcards which are for a select group of people. But I never got anything about the code I had attached to my name at CRO. This is why I took a chance and decided to call them. Of course there was none because for some reason Disney is not in need of more guests.

PIN codes typically are provided to demographic groups who would tend to visit less in the absence of the PIN codes.

Thank goodness I'm not typical in Disney's eyes!

I was booked 6 months in advance for the Beach Club a few years ago, and had been to WDW the year before. I was using a general public code, when what do you know, I get a postcard PIN code in the mail a month before our trip. I used the PIN, and ended up saving $52 more than with the code I had been using. Every little bit of savings helps!

And then last year I got an email code right after we came back from AKL. Bummer!

No codes since, but whenever I call CRO for something, I always ask, just in case.

Guess we arent "typical" either and my mom who has NEVER been to WDW is either. We went to the Wilderness Lodge, and wouldnt you know it, we got home and a month later a PIN code came. Then with my mom, who has NEVER been to WDW only DL got a postcard in the mail about a PIN Code. Bummer though becuse we couldnt use it unless she was coming!

The exceptions are strange, true, but Disney's still the best at segmenting their market and targeting their discounts. :thumbsup2

. . . and staying just unpredictable enough that they keep our heads spinning trying to figure out the "trick" to getting included. :rotfl2:

ok - Weird question. I have made many trips to Disney World - Years ago I use to call (407) WDW-DISNEY or Disney Travel to make reservations - then I became a member of the OLD Disney Club and used (800) 933-3975. Then when I received a code I used that number on the postcard which was also different. All had different information (phone #, address, email) on file for me. So, what is the best number to call to see if you have codes? Do you have to call all of them? Evidently they don't all use the same database to get their information.
