Just when is this famous "Jersey Week" this year?

OP back. I can't believe how sensitive people are. Sheesh, I was just wondering when Jersey week is because I keep hearing how crowded it is and we are very flexible when we can visit. I was just hoping to avoid the crowds. That is all I meant when I asked the question. Now I need to get back to more serious business. Our community was hit hard by tornadoes this afternoon. If you want to continue to say I've offended you, go ahead. I won't be responding anymore .

It is usually whatever week contains Election Day, which is the first Tuesday in November. This year Election Day is November 1 - but from other posts, the parent teacher conferences are the 10th and 11th. I thought it was Jersey WEEK because in NJ they would get Election Day off school, and then the conference dates in the same week. This year it doesn't seem to be the same week. So is it still Jersey Week? I don't know, I'm in Virginia.

Election Day is the 8th this year, our district in Ohio also gets it off. Have the 2011-2012 schedule already and double checked the county board of election.

seriously, no offense taken I was joking. Plus I am originally a NY girl:)

The teacher conferences are the thurs/fri of the first full week. Since 10/31 is the Monday of the first week of Nov, it gets pushed back a week.

All school districts get the Thurs/Fri, some the Tues (election daY) and some (including my children) get the entire week.

I do suspect it to be a bit more crowded since Veterans Day also fall into the same time frame.

So THEY was short for Jersey neanderthal?

I could understand your reaction if the OP had made a single derogatory comment or had a known history of jersey-bashing. But using the word THEY isn't exactly a direct attack on the families of New Jersey public school students.

First of all, I made the facetious, stereo-typed remark calling Jerseyans neanderthals, I never said that the OP meant that when they used the phrase "they". You're making a quantum leap.
Also, I never said the OP was directly attacking anybody.

However, if you don't think there was a negatively suggestive tone towards people from Jersey in the original post, on it's surface, then you didn't read it. If you did read it, perhaps your interpretation is skewed because the OP has since clarified.

Either way, I am clearly not the only person to have read it as such.

Getting back to the original question,I was there last year during Jersey Week, Oct. 31-Nov. 7 and saw no noticeable increase in crowd levels. I actually didn't even know it WAS Jersey Week until a server at Le Cellier asked us if we were from New Jersey and then told us.

I don't think it should keep you from going. Have a blast! :goodvibes

Crowds or the lack of them in the parks really isn't a DVC subject. Since the OP has her answer, I'm going to close this thread rather than move it.

Thanks all.
