Just what we need from Disney

Yes, I agree with you. When TDS first started, it was really different, and these products would have fit well there. Now it has the same type of merchandise as my local Target, but with higher prices. Now I only go there to pre-buy movies when my DW wants the lithos.

Just what we need. . . more overpriced items just because the word "Disney" is on it.

No one is making anyone buy it. Why shouldn't it be offered if it's profitable for Disney (meaning people like it)?

I'm with Pete on this one. Provided they are quality products, they do not harm the creative abilities of the company in any way. In fact, in an optimal world, the profits would help fund bigger and better creative endeavors... but I guess that's another discussion.

The creation of these products is also a separate issue from the problems with the stores, but the points made about how clothing and other merchandise have been brought to the public are valid.

I like the fact that there are many unique items you can ONLY buy in DL or WDW. Wearing an X resort shirt or eating soup outa one of them big Pooh/Tigger mugs brings back fond memories of the trip.

But it seemed that the Dis Stores just started selling things that wouldn't sell at the parks, almost like some kind of DL/WDW clearance outlet.

IMO, the fix for the DS's was simple. Just go back to selling products that made the stores a huge success in the beginning. Disney didn't lose their fans or customers. They simply tried to sell them junk they didn't want. Replace the inventory and the fans will return in droves.

If there's a Mickey toilet seat out there, I've seen everything. I wouldn't want Mickey staring at my cheeks while I'm trying to go potty...

Agree with Matt and Petey.

Hell, I think these are BETTER products then most of what they've been doing lately.

OF course, I've been hearing some excellent rumors on the new products front, so I'm not particularly surprised.

I also agree with the consensus on TDS.

It's a boutique store, it needs to be treated as such.

Well!

I've been a bored lately so I thought I'd check out a few threads that I haven't delved into... And what do I find? MICKEY-HEAD BUTTER being mentioned!! Alas!!! If only...

Anyway, I hate to disappoint, but this is one of the rare occasions that the Pirate and the Baron agree! So, no red! No HUGE!! No gimmicks at all. As many have said before, I see no problem here!!

The Disney Popcorn Popper has a capacity of five quarts, features a non-stick coated popping surface, a cover that flips to become a serving bowl, a motorized stirring rod, heat-resistant handles and base, and Mickey's white non-slip rubber "feet."

Been there, done that: the product described above is nothing more than a clone of the classic West Bend "Stir Crazy' Corn Popper (below), which has been on the market for decades, and has always been the tool of choice for knowledgeable popcorn fans (gave one to the family three years ago for Xmas, and it's still pumping out the fun). By the way, Amazon sells the Stir Crazy for $10 less than the Disney-ized copy.
