I just got off the phone with DVC and we are now wait listed to purchase DVC at the Beach Club. Our guide is Michelle McAllister. Anybody know her? They asked me if I had been referred by anybody. Do I need a referral? Has anybody recently been on the wait list with DVC for the BCV? If so, how long did you wait?

I waitlisted for the BCV on Thursday too!!!.
I am so excited and hope it goes quickly.

Been on the BCV waitlist since May 2008. Still waiting "patiently".

Did they tell you how many people were on the list ahead of you ?

Have any of you checked the resale market. I just checked the 4 sites I have saved, not alot available, but there were a total of 9 resales listed including 4 on the TTS. Just click on the link above:goodvibes

I have a couple of questions on resales.

I have been looking at the TTS site for a while and I have not seen contracts for a relatively small number of points suitable for an add-on. I am guessing that Disney can divide contracts but the resale folks can not. I did see some smaller contracts on the GMAC site and ...

I also wonder if Disney obtains resale points only through ROFR or if they buy back contracts directly. What would a guide say if you said you wanted to sell a contract.

Do the resale folks get their comission even if Disney uses their ROFR on the contract.

thanks

Michelle McAllister is my guide. She's great! She's always helpful and always takes the time to thoroughly answer my questions. You can't go wrong with Michelle.

Michelle is not my guide, but I've heard her name mentioned favorably on multiple occasions. What UY are you waitlisted for? Hopefully it will come up pretty quick and you won't have to wait very long. Congrats on your decision...I'm sure we'll get to welcome you home soon. :goodvibes

Disney can and will buy contracts back directly but they price per point they offer has been in the low $50s...so unless you are seriously *desparate* for the cash, you could probably get higher proceeds 99.9% of the time via resale.

Also, the resale brokers get their commission even if the contract is bought back by Disney via ROFR as it's the seller that pays it -- not the buyer.

Actually I never thought to ask. I will ask on Monday.

I did look resale but did not see a lot of sense on going resale given that the price differential between resale and DVC for the Beach Club is only $10-15 per point. Considering that with DVC I do not have to pay any closing costs and get all my points to use right away, it just about comes out even in my mind to go DVC. Now if I was looking at another resort, it would be different.

The closing costs on my 150 point contract with TTS was around $450. At $10-15 per point difference on just a 100 point contract, your looking at $1000-1500 more buying thru DVC. Yes you have to deal with ROFR, but at least trying it can't hurt anything. And the contract I bought had 140 banked points and I got all my points within 6 weeks of submitting my offer. Just food for thought.:goodvibes

Hi, I also called my DVC Guide (Celeste) last Thursday about purchasing some additional points at BCV. I am a June use year and I am looking for 150 points. She said the wait could be anywhere from 2 days to over a year. I guess it just depends. I did not waitlst yet because I wanted to talk it over with DH first(he was the one who suggested I call). Then when I went back on the DIS boards I started looking at TTS also, and was trying to figure out if it is a better deal?? With a June use year would I still get my points for 2008 buying from Disney?? And what % rate is Disney charging for financing?? And comparing TTS what is their % rate for financing?? Thanks for any additional info!! Joan

Congratulations!! That was FAST!! :thumbsup2 Hope if I decide to go with Disney it will be that QUICK for me!! We also own at the SAME 3 resorts OKW,BCV and SSR. Our SUMMER trip will be in a 2 bedroom at SSR,it is a LAST minute trip booked on 6/19 for the week starting on 7/18. We are on the DINING plan and I was able to get every ADR that I wanted also!! :upsidedow Can I just ask how many points you purchased?? Thanks, Joan

Thanks!
I bought 75 BCV points, and I'm still shocked at how fast it was.

Next year's trip will be extended by 5 days!
And there will be future Food and Wine trips, and Flower and Garden trips, and Star Wars Weekends trips. :cool1:
Although, not all in the same year, obviously, with only 75 points.
Hmm, maybe I need to ask for more before I sign the papers?:rotfl:

Not sure I'll need my BLT anymore, actually. I may get rid of that "wish club" thingie.

Michelle is our guide too. She's great. We waitlisted for BCV in January and had our points within 2 weeks. Our UY is December.

Hopefully your points come through quickly, too.

Good Luck!

How many points did you get? I waitlisted for 25 earlier today (also December UY). I want to add another 25 after I get these, but I don't want them in the same credit card cycle  My guide, Joan Lane, said she thought she had seen a 25-point December contract in the system, but of course she didn't know if someone was ahead of me for that number of points & UY. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get these relatively soon. :goodvibes
