Wow what a difference. All my favorite shows are amazing, the picture quality is unbelievable, and did I mention the sports. We ended up getting a Samsung 1080p this past weekend.
Don't you love it? My husband and I were like a couple of little kids at the candy store when we first upgraded. We would just sit in front of the tv and stare and marvel at the beauty of it all.
HDTV is really cool. The best stuff seems to be the live HD casts. Sports is great so is American Idol. Next you should get a blu-ray player and some discs. The Disney/Pixar stuff is killer
I couldnt believe when we upgraded either. Our ds told us it was time to get out of the dark ages of technology. We have a 32 because thats all that fits in our room. I think theirs is like a 40 something? OT - But how is your wife doing??
Thanks for asking luvmarypoppins. She is back to work and doing well. She does get very very tired in the afternoons though. Not sure what to do to help her there. Hope your doing well.

We don't have a blu-ray player yet. I haven't even watched a regular dvd on the new tv yet either. We are currently watching the Chronicles of Narnia on ABC Family in HD. Good stuff. We are Time Warner customers and when switched out the box we got all the premium channels for a few days......talk about your candy store
Can't wait for the NFL on Sunday.
Now all I all need is some Disney Parks stuff on the travel channel in HD! Has anyone seen any of that programming?
Enjoy! We bought one last year and love it! I got a lot of great info about TV's right here. Ended up with a 46" Samsung for the livingroom. I feel like I'm at the movies!
I've heard it said that the difference in experience from SD to true HD is as big as the difference between black & white and color. I wasn't around for the latter, but I can believe the former.
The best looking HD channel? NFL Network, by far. Almost brings tears to my eyes.
If you have an HDTV you OWE it to yourself to get a Blu-ray player. As soon as possible. There will be many on sale for Black Friday. Get one. You will not be disappointed. Broadcast HD is great, but Bluray is even a little bit better. And if you have a surround sound system the Blu-ray is even better because it has lossless audio - not only is the picture faaaaar superior to DVD the audio is a lot better, too.
Having an HDTV and a Blu-ray player with surround sound is as good or better than the movies - no strangers using their cell phones around you, no screaming kids (unless you have screaming kids!), no sticky floors and dirty chairs containing God knows which bodily fluids... and you can watch wearing whatever you want and not get arrested.
I don't think the Travel Channel broadcasts in HD right now - they don't on DirecTV, anyway. Which sucks. Neither does History International or the Military Channel. But if you like travel show the HD Net channel shows a lot of Rudy Maxa and Rick Steves and other travel shows all in HD and they look amazing. Hopefully the Travel Channel will get with it. Then again, lately the Travel Channel shows more food and ghosts than they do travel, so...
THe funniest part of watching in HD is watching shows like David Letterman. It is amazing how much different all the celebrities look in HD. I have a feeling they really don't like looking their true age ; ).
We watched Survivor and the Office last night. Survivor was amazing. It looked like a complete different show. We also watched Wheel of Fortune and on the letterboard that doesn't contain letters there is a green box with an asterisk looking sign. Simply amazing details.
I will search the black friday ads for a blu ray player. You can play old dvds on blu ray right? Probably need to go buy "Up" this weekend as well.
