Just the two of us- WDW May 09 countdown on! **UPDATE Trying to change plans AGAIN!**

Oh my goodness. Are you ok? I am soo soo sorry. I do accounting for a GM dealership, so it has been in the back of my mind.

Oh my goodness...are you ok? You know we are here for you if you need us!!!

I am better now. I am still so so angry with them. Their reasoning? They weren't happy about my performance and I am too "vocal". So basically I don't sit back and just agree with everything they do, I voice my opinion. Apparently they want robots. Oh but my GM was so nice to tell me he wouldn't fight me for unemployment. Oddly this happened after my boss tried to get me to work a 13 hour shift this past Saturday and I told her absolutely not.

I filed for unemployment tonight. I hope no one thinks badly of me for this...but I am seriously considering getting the unemployment and just applying for the nursing program this fall instead of next January. I am thinking of just focusing on school and not work and getting through August until I get my next round of grants and loans and ending the unemployment.

I don't know what to do and I absolutely don't know what to do about my trip. I need this vacation SO badly and want to see my family so bad. I have the money to pay it off tonight if I wanted too...but I don't know. I need support :(

I am so sorry about your job. That is just so unfair. I really hope that everything works out for the trip and school.

I'm VERY sorry to hear about you loosing your job. I'd go with unemployment b/c it was through no fault of your own. Meaning, you didn't quit. Sounds like they were coming up for reason to get rid of you. If you need anything, we're here for you. I'd definitely go back to school and get a better job and do what you want :)

As for the trip, definitely go!! You deserve it after all you've gone through.

Oh man, I'm soooo sorry :sad2: Please know we are here for you and you HAVE to go to Disney, we'll miss you if you don't!

Seriously, you have absolutly no reason for feeling bad about taking the unemployment. You have worked hard and full time while going to school full time. You deserve the break and now you will be able to focus on school and building a life for you and Rylan. If you can get through this time and get into nursing school earlier then, by all means, do it!

:) Now you have more time for Disney planning!!:)

Haha I have to admit, its a relief to be out of there. I HATED it there. I just wanted to find a new job before I quit. If I am able to make around the same amount in unemployment that I made at work then I should be able to go. I can't complain to have more planning time ;)

If it works out the way I plan it, and I end up not working again until I graduate then we will be driving down to save cost. That would cut out about $600 and I would just have to pay for gas down there. I decided not to drive because I couldn't take more than 10 days off of work, but now that I won't be working it won't matter. That's all if I can get a decent amount for unemployment. Luckily child support won't be lowered and his dad told me tonight that if I need any help, to let him know and not be shy about it. It will be nice to spend more quality time with Rylan and get caught up on school and housework.

Thanks guys :grouphug: I really appreciate it. Its been a really tough day today.

I totally agree. Take advantage of this time with Rylan! Everything happens for a reason. Maybe yours was to focus on family and school. Disney will be great for setting your mind at ease and helping you get ready for nursing school. Clinicals are crazy. I started and then switched to Elem. Education. Good luck!!!:flower3:

I'm really sorry things have been so hard for you lately.:grouphug: I'm glad you will be able to take some time off of work and focus on school and Rylan. It sounds like it was a crazy pace to try and work, study and parent full time!

Sending prayers your way that everything will work itself out.:goodvibes I hope you have a relaxing night.

I think I am going to drive up to Canada this week to get away and visit friends. My friend Linda in Ontario is supposed to call me tomorrow to see if its feasible. I would only have to pay gas up there, that's it.

I don't know how unemployment works in Indiana, but about 7 years ago, I was laid off for a while and I received about $370 a week for 26 weeks and then a 13 week extension after that. It worked out perfect for me because I was laid off about 2 months before I started student teaching. I was going to have to quit, but being laid off, I still got paid! Hopefully, you will get compensated enough to where you can take the time off and focus on school.

Oh, hey! With all that's happened to you today, I forgot to ask if M made it to the doc? Hope he's ok too!

They extended the amount of time you can receive unemployment for. Now Indiana has a 26 week period you can receive benefits for, then you can apply for a 20 week extension through the fed. gov., then after that is exhausted you can apply for another extension up to 13 weeks. I only plan on need about 8 months worth or so, depending on what happens. The max you can receive a week here is $396. I am not sure if they base it on gross or net income...but as long as I make around $300/wk with it I will be okay. That is less than what I took home weekly, but without paying daycare it will end up being more monthly.

We talked today after the drama I had :) He called today and has to go into the office next week for blood tests. He was supposed to call me back but apparently forgot.

I'm so sorry! I've been working on school work this afternoon and feel bad I didn't read this until now. Everything will be fine. You can focus on school and spend time with Rylan! Please know that I'm here for you. Gosh, I hope you still go on your trip!!! WE WOULD MISS YOU!!!!!! I'm looking so forward to meeting in person! Also, I hope M is ok. He's been in my prayers. I'm definitely keeping you in my prayers too. I'm glad the unemployment will work out for you. There is absolutely no shame in getting unemployment. Look at it this way, now you get paid to go to school and spend time with Rylan! :goodvibes

Hope you're feeling better today! You'll be amazed at how much you can accomplish without that stupid work thing getting in your way!!:lmao:

Kara go for the unemployment , go to school and go to Disney !!Will you hav o pay daycare when you are in school! Check out what help you can get for going to school thru unemployment and social services ! This might turn out to be a blessing in disguise !

I'm so sorry Kara! I hope everything works out.

Oh I'm so sorry. I was laid off 6 days before Christmas from one of the big job search engines out there. Apparantly I did such a great job and developed this awesome system for reporting job stats to our customers that they made it a program and voila my job and other's with my title in other offices were out of a job. I received unemployment - in NJ you have the option of having taxes taken out or not.
