Oh I'm so sorry. I was laid off 6 days before Christmas from one of the big job search engines out there. Apparantly I did such a great job and developed this awesome system for reporting job stats to our customers that they made it a program and voila my job and other's with my title in other offices were out of a job. I received unemployment - in NJ you have the option of having taxes taken out or not.

I opted not to have taxes withheld. Mainly because I will qualify for the EITC next year and that will cover any taxes I owe. It also helps that I am a full time student. I need all I can get!

Kara go for the unemployment , go to school and go to Disney !!Will you hav o pay daycare when you are in school! Check out what help you can get for going to school thru unemployment and social services ! This might turn out to be a blessing in disguise !

I will have to pay daycare or preschool. Whichever I decide on. However, it will be the same as I would be paying now if I worked and if I am receiving unemployment then it shouldn't affect me much.

Does your school have a daycare? My school had a daycare for students' children and it was staffed by college of ed students. I know there were programs for the parents that were very cost effective. Just a thought, I know childcare can get expensive!! Heck, I'd watch Rylan if you lived closer!!!

Ugh no, at least my campus doesn't offer childcare. I will be applying at several different campuses for the same school so I don't know if others offer it. I should look into daycare vouchers though...I should qualify!

I'm so, so sorry about your job. That is horrible. But I'm happy to catch up on your PTR and read about you and M. I'm anxious to hear how he's doing. I just said a prayer for both of you. I really hope you still get to go to Disney! It sounds like you do really need a break.

Alright everyone I am headed up to Ontario tomorrow to stay for 4 or 5 days. I need to get away and just clear my head and be unstressed HOWEVER this means I won't be able to make ADRs on Sunday My phone will be in roaming and its like 40 cents/min to call....would anyone like to volunteer to make some ADRs for me?

So I am packing and its a good thing I am taking this trip...because I am packing for Rylan and I for sure need another luggage set...because the carry on rollon suitcase is WAY too small for his stuff now. So I definitely need another set with a bigger suitcase to put his stuff in!


I am trying to figure out if there are any tolls on my way up there...this is the first time I will be driving up there. I usually fly into Buffalo and she picks me up. I am thinking I will take a bunch of change just in case...

It truly is, but I also have the tendency to overpack. A LOT.
I wrote down my mapquest directions and it seems that there is one toll so I am all set for it! I have like $5 in quarters in my purse now lol.

Thanks I am starting to see the pluses to not working there anymore. I detested it. Which sucks because I LOVED my job 1 1/2 years ago when I first started.

Good luck with nursing school! I am applying at two different campuses since the one closest to me (where I go to class at now) is very competitive, so hopefully the other isn't so much and its only about 35-40 min away. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get in!

Hi Kara I was meaning that you should be eligible for some sort of Daycare aid !!! My DD used to get it and then they changed the limits and sheearned toomuch according to the State ! They obviously had no idea what too much was raising 3 kids alone !!That is why she lives with me , so I can pay the bills Just kidding but my sil is on unemployment and can'tfind a job so it's me and her the Bread winners !! Kyle likes to go to latchkey and that is only $65 a month so we let him do that!!The girls thank goodness are old enough to watch themselves but to watch Kyle would be a bloodbath!!!! Have fun in Canada !!
