i thought it would be good to teach my 5 year-olds to read some "key words" they can already recite the alphabet and recognize words (cat, dog, fish, pig, cheese, car, etc.) i dunno, u can comment i just thought it *might* make the trip more *magical* if they saw the theme park sign and were able to tell me where they were...oh yeah, and these are the "key words"

My oldest will be 4 next week and he loves naming colors, shapes and some easy words (like his name, Mom etc). Some special Disney words is a great idea! Maybe we'll just have to move on to that one next!!! We already pick out the Disney tunes wherever we go!

I think it's a great idea! Heck, my kids could all spell Mickey Mouse when they were still toddlers, just from singing the Mickey Mouse club march.

And we're doing it too. My three year-old granddaughter appears to have taught herself to recognize "Walt Disney World", "Disney Cruise Line", "Pooh", and many other Disney-trip related words. Do you think we watch the videos and look at books and magazines too often?

She can also recognize her own name, Mom, Dad and a few others.

We're starting to teach her the names of the months and show her a calendar so that she knows that when the calendar says "December" it will be time to go! She can recognize the numbers 1 and 2, and, since we're leaving on Dec. 2, she'll be able to pick out the right date on her calendar.

I used to be a kindergarten teacher and found that most kids will learn almost anything if they think they're just having fun!
