There doesnt seem to be a very good description on what to expect the day your are in Nassau. Here is what we did.
We woke up as we were pulling into port, and this was the view out our stateroom.
View of Atlantis while in port.
Random Yacht leaving port
Dock worker supervising tie down of the Wonder.
There was another ship from Carnival parked next to us in port. I took this shot.
As you walk off the ship you see this.
Larger perspective from the bow of the ship.
Statue of someone of some importance outside the Govenrment building.
Again, horrible with details, but in the same square there was this.
Street View walking up the hill to the Fort and the Queens Staircase
Looking up the Queens Staircase. And yes, I had to carry a stroller up it.
Looking back down the stairs. At the base of the stairs was a nice lady selling hats and stuff. I bought my Nassau hat a necklace and a couple sodas for $20. She was so nice I gave her an extra $5 ad she just was overwhelmed. I felt ssad for them and wanted to help them make a living any way I could.
Plaque about the Fort
View from the fort looking back at the ships.
Looking towards Atlantis
Cruising at 9 months was not a problem at all.
Gunner in training.
We walked from the fort over to Graycliff for lunch and I wanted some fresh cigars. These people were so snotty and rude. They made it obvious that they didn't "do lunch" and the chef would come out to see what he could prepare for us. We decided to leave and head back to the boat.
The infamous STRAW MARKET. I sat outside with the kids while the wife browsed. Just your normal junk sale. I felt bad for a kid who came out just buyng a few DVD's of some movie that was in theatres at the time. He was all bummed to open a nice cd package with a nice cover only to find a blank DVD with the title written on it in Sharpie.
We then boarded the boat and spent the rest of the day at the pool. I'd guess we walked around Nassau for 3 hours or so.
At the pool, my daughter 6 (far right) made freinds with a lot of kids.
My wife and I made freinds with this guy.
Nassau at night as viewed from our act 4 balconey.
If I had it to do over again, I would pay for transportation a little further out from the ports. Beyond shopping, there is not much to do.
