I am SOOOO disappointed in this book - and feel that the offers have been misrepresented - so I decided to email the Entertainment people and ask for an explanation...

Hotel rates in many (make that "most") instances are double what can be had on sites such as HotelKingdom.com and HotelMartUSA.com...

The Alamo car rental site will not let any of the discounts go through.. I emailed Alamo and they told me to use a different code - that provided NO savings at all..

Someone on the board here (who was waiting for their book to arrive) asked for the National car rental codes and guess what? The on-line site rejected them and after making a phone call to National, the person was told that the 2004 coupons and codes expire on December 31st - 2003 !!!!

This is totally unacceptable as far as I'm concerned and I really feel they have misrepresented the value of this book.. Will be interesting to see how they respond....

I was looking at the Entertainment site today to see what hotels had Entertainment rates - and noticed that they were no longer 50% off the rack rate. :(

That's dissapointing :(

I look forward to this book every year! Please keep us updated on any response that you get from them.

I just previewed the 2004 book on the website. PBH, HRH, Swan and Dolphin are all listed in the half priced section. As the books are becoming more popular I suspect the number of available discount rooms may be limited.

I used the discount for National today for 2 reservations in 2004, and they both worked out ok. When it comes to the conformation page, it says 2004 entertainment coupon. Maybe the codes weren't in the computer yet, the books just came ot

FYI: Usually the car rental codes are not yet good until it is actually the year the book is dated. The 2003 codes are good until the end of the yr. Car rental codes usually work in terms of being valid at the time you book the rental, not necessarily when you actually rent the vehicle.

Something I have run into with the on-line coupons is that you have to try two or three times for some reason for them to take

I have used the entertainment book for hotels along the way to Canada and NC and have found that most often their discounts only bring the rates down to exactly the discounted rates offered by most on-line hotel brokers! I too was dissappointed in this and probably will not be buying the 2004 book. When you pay money to join a "discount club" you expect BETTER rates than you could get without joining!!! Duh!

I have used these books in the past. The hotel discounts have not really changed. The discounts have always been 50% of RACK rate. The reason I quit using them was the internet. In the past books like this were one of the only ways to find discounts, now you have hotels.com, priceline etc....
