Just saw The Village movie!

I think that the end was what made the movie great! JMHO though...

Saw it...didn't hate it but didn't think it was exceptional either.

It had its moments and the performances were good but I found it to be too telegraphed. The ending honestly didn't surprise me at all - I was half expecting it. I think a lot of that is due to M.Night Shyamalan's previous films having similar formulas. I've come to expect something like that from a Shyamalan film.

It wasn't what I expected, but I really liked it!

My son saw it lastnight and said it was good....until the end. Then he said, in his words "it sucked!"

So....now I'm not so sure I'm willing to waste additional $$ on it.

Maybe I'll just wait for it to come out on DVD.

Blondie, this is not a movie made for young males... it doesn't have all the "oh crap" things they appreciate, it's much more thought provoking than outrageous. In other words, I think YOU'd like it.

We're going back to see it again... too many things I missed!

I agree. I would like to see it again now, cuz I think I missed a lot of things as well. The ending made the movie!

Saw it earlier and loved it! I think Shymalan is an absolute genius! People who appreciated Unbreakable will love this one too. Not very scary, but very thought provoking. People who just want a mindless scare wouldn't like it. I WAS worried when I thought the twist had been revealed (cause theres gotta be a twist:) but then when That wasn't it...WOW!!! Maybe there should be a warning/spoiler thread to discuss it.

Just saw it tonight. It was very interesting, but not a great movie. To be honest, I knew what one of the twists was right at the beginning. I'd say more about that point, but I don't want to spoil it for the more astute members of the audience that will pick apart every little thing looking for Shyamalan's plot twists like I do. Shyamalan is always trying to make you think a certain way and he is rather deliberate with the evidence. He doesn't show anything that he doesn't want you to see. Now, I didn't start to figure out the "why" of the plot twist until halfway through.
I'd give it a 6 out of ten. It was very well done. Very well shot. It seemed to plod along at points while scenes were being set. I think the twist about the creatures in the forest was revealed too early. Kinda took a little of the magic and mystique away.
Bryce Dallas Howard was superb. Her performance really carried the movie. Everyone else was kinda like background only, not meant to stand out. Some would call the other performances nuanced. I think the dialogue was such that there was only so much the actors could do with their lines and roles. I think it was less nuance, and more struggling within a strictly limited range.

It was not at all the movie I thought I was going to see. In some ways good, in some ways bad. It wasn't scary at all. There are a couple tense moments where the more timid may want a hand to hold. But don't mistake this movie for the Exorcist or Alien. This is NOT a horror movie. It's a suspense movie.

Another one who liked it!!! We saw it yesterday and both DH and I enjoyed it a lot!!Like others have said, it wasn't what I had initially expected. As DH put it...a good movie that didn't need any profanity or nudity to sell it!!!

I saw the movie last night and I really liked it. It was a good "story". I overheard just about everybody saying the movie "sucked" and that he should have stopped at the Sixth Sense. A lot of people commented on the fact that the movie didn't make sense. I don't think it's supposed to make sense. He's telling a story. I also knew not to look at it as a horror story, so I guess I was prepared for the kind of movie it was.
