I was down at DL for the weekend for the half marathon and snuck in to the models (studio and 1 bedroom aka 2 bedroom lock off) and was really rather impressed with them! I've heard people say that they are "bland" and "boring" but I thought it was a real nice mix of contemporary and restic decoration. The stainless steel looks so nice and everything looks soooo clean.....but give that a few years and we'll be seeing posts here about how they need to be updated!

All I can say is that if I didnt live so close (1 hour drive) I would definately look in to buying DVC here in SoCal but I know that I wouldnt book at the 7-11 month window for a local vacation. Oh well..........but for all of you others out there that are going to buy at GCV, I APPROVE!! ;)

I will be there the weekend of Sept 20-22 and I am planning to see the models. I can't wait. They seem really nice from the pictures I have seen.

Very nice pictures. I like the fold down bed in the TV unit. Thank you for sharing.

I was also at DL and took a look at the models on Friday and they are very nice looking. I can't wait to see the points chart.

Do they know when they will be ready yet? And when will they start selling? I figured if they have models they must be ready to start selling, but I not heard anything yet. I will be out there in December and would like to tour it.

No they are not selling them yet. And i dont know the exact date they'll start selling and when the first units will be completed.

Those photos look exactly as I would have expected for the GC. It is a resort on a craftsman theme, and the decor is very craftsman! NICE!

I will be there Sep 20-23 so I will have to check it out!!!

Thanks for the awesome link!

Does anyone know the California law on how far in advance they can start selling GCV? I thought I read (I've overdosed on Disney boards lately, please forgive) that in California they are not allowed to start condo pre-sales until the condos are at a 90% rate of completion.

Now, I live in San Diego where (like lots of places) everyone went real-estate-nutso a few years ago, & people were buying condos that were nothing more than drawings...sites hadn't even been demo'd or cleared yet. It was such a craze, people would go to these showrooms and buy their homes off of tiny models encased in glass and interior artist renderings (not guaranteed to resemble the final product, no less). So maybe this law doesn't exist, was enacted recently, or only applies to timeshares?

Just curious. I am dying to buy at GCV and want to be sure I have my finances ready if they end up offering these buggers in October. I mean, I know its Florida, but I just bought AKV Kidani and its not finished and not available to me for 8 more months, and others have been buying Kidani for a few months prior putting them at nearly a year before they could actually go there...so maybe GCV will go on sale well beforehand, too?

...the suspense is killing me...

I can't help with when they will go on sale, but I too feel you pain! I've been waiting it seems like forever for the GCV.

I don't know when they will go on sale either but I doubt it will be in October. There was plenty of warning when sales would start for AKV. I figure that it will be the same for GCV. Every time I have spoken with my guide for the past couple of years I always remind him that I am ready to buy as soon as they are ready to sell. :lmao: Someday in the not too distant future we will be complaining about our MFs . . . instead of waiting to buy.

I just read that there will only be 21 lockoffs (plus 27 dedicated 2 bedrooms, 2 GV), which will make it hard to get a studio or 1 bedroom at 7 months. I'm thinking about a small add-on, enough to do 5 weeknights in a studio in late spring or fall.

Thanks for posting the pics - we're not planning an add on there, but it was nice to see it!

The dining room table layout looks interesting and different than other DVCs. Can anyone who's been in the models explain how it works? Is it two on each side and one on each end = 6? Couldn't tell if the wrap around on the end could fit a person, and does the coffee table have a cushion on it and that's the 6th seat? And then are there 2 more chairs at the kitchen counter?

Will it be 2010? Anyone know when? Assume if your home resort is not GCV, it will be very difficult to book at 7 mos! Small Number of units looks like.

Thanks....Pics look outstanding!:goodvibes

Everything I've I read or heard is pointing to a late 2009 openning. I think it will be difficult to get into at peak times, but I think if you can be flexible with your dates you should be able to get reservations at the 7 month mark. Many of us west coasters don't plan our trips 11 months out so we'll have to see how it goes. We typically book 2-6 months out.

Aug.16 09...points per night drop at DVCs in Orlando...

Bet that won't be the case at GCV...bet it will be the "same season" during all of July and all of August...Will be interesting..Can't wait to see the point usage charts! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes
