Wow! What a great trip....quick three night, before-school-starts, solo trip. DVC member with no points, decided to try a moderate, and I'm so happy that I did! When I called to arrange magical express, I mentioned to the cast member that I traveling solo and was hoping for a location that wasn't too remote. My room was in Magnolia Terrace, 3rd floor facing the East depot bus stop...simply perfect! I adored POR and although I'm loving deluxe with the DVC membership, I felt that Riverside was pretty darn deluxe-like. The room was great-spacious and seemingly recently renovated. I really enjoyed the boat service to Disney Springs, and although I'm not a fan of the buses, I found them to be really efficient. I loved Yeehaw Bob last night in the lounge...just so much fun, and it felt like I was seeing a living legend of Disney....and I didn't feel out of place being solo. Quick bus ride to Epcot (the new Frozen and Soarin' were incredible) and I really liked the main pool area, although I usually gravitate towards the quiet pools. I actually loved the New Orleans style music which played in the background everywhere, and I'm not much of a jazz fan typically, but it was really relaxing. One thing, though, is that even though I was relatively close to everything, there is still a good bit of walking at Riverside...I enjoyed it, but if I was not a walker, it may have been a bit much. And I know...Joffrey's coffee is an improvement over the old Nescafe, but I still wish I could get a decent cup of coffee at a resort...One thing I love about DVC is that I can bring my own coffee to brew in the villa. The first thing I did when I got home tonight was have a good cup of coffee. It probably doesn't mean that much to everyone, but it's really important to me. (there's worse addictions. right?) Thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction...it was a great get away! Bring on the school year!!!

Thanks for sharing! I resolve to stay at POR or French Quarter one day...I'm always in the values. But since we're buying APs this year, think I might splurge on a low season trip next spring, just to experience a moderate once. Those resorts look gorgeous.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I too LOOOOOVE POR! its my fave mod. Definitely feels deluxe-y. :) I love the landscaping. Its very pretty and lush. And the boat to Disney Springs is convenient and relaxing.

Im with you about good coffee. Disney has terrible coffee. im so picky, that i'd rather be without coffee during my disney trip (which usually happens) than to drink bad coffee. :crazy2:

Glad you had a good time. I'm also a deluxe gal but have taken to staying a night or two a moderates at the beginning of my trips. 1. because it doesn't make sense to pay for deluxe that first night when I arrive around 3 and know I'm going straight to a park and won't do anything but sleep in the room that night and then will go to AK the next day and since you have to take a bus there no matter where you stay, it makes sense to save money and 2. I'm attempting to stay at all WDW resorts at least once.

I did a 2 night stay at POR solo before moving to OKW a few years ago and loved it. It was my first moderate and I was worried I wouldn't like it and ended up wishing I hadn't had to move to OKW. I too was in Magnolia, I think on the 2nd floor in a corner room so if you stood outside the room and looked left you saw the parking lot and bus stop, straight ahead the courtyard between buildings and the right the river. I got up both mornings before sunrise and walked around the whole resort and over to POFQ and always felt perfectly safe being a solo woman and loved the peacefulness of the resort.
