We stayed for 4 nights in room 1071 at the Yacht Club first. It was standard view at the $199.00 rate thanks to mousesavers! :) and located quite far from the lobby, but right next to the boardwalk facing the pool area (couldn't see the pool though thru the trees). Also had a good view of the fireworks if we stepped out into the lawn a bit (darn tree was in the way again! LOL). Our room was a newly renovated one, very nice I must say!!! Brand new bed spreads, and it still smelled like fresh paint. We did hear construction on the floor above us but only during the day. We were close the laundry room, and very close to the quiet pool, which we used a couple of times instead of treking over the stormalong bay. The mini bar fridge was not loaded like I thought it would be and we were able to fit our juice boxes, milk boxes, and small bottles of water in fine without having to pay the $10 per day to rent a fridge. We left about $5 each day for mousekeeping (we are kind of messy, well DH and DS are!), and we got a lot of extra shampoos, soaps and towels.

We actually wanted to extend our stay there after the four nites, we were transferring over to the AS Movies, so my husband called the front desk, and asked if we could get the $199 rate that we had gotten for the 4 nights and they were utterly confused. He told us that we did not pay $199 a night for our room, we paid $315 (he was incorrect) and after my husband said no, that's not correct, I have my paperwork, he still insisted that is how much we paid, so hubby said forget it, we'll just keep our plans the way they are.

My only complaint would be the fact that the bus stops at all five resorts and it can take a while to get places. Other than that, everything was perfect!! The location is great, the hotel is very nice and stormalong bay makes the YC a great place to stay!!

Now for the AS Movies. We stayed there for four nights as well in a preferred building that I got for $100 with the AAA discount. We had our luggage transferred over from the YC and went to MGM for the day and checked in at around 3pm. Our room was ready and we were still waiting on our bags, but they arrived around 5pm. We were in a room in the Fantasia building on the third floor. Upon turning down the beds in the room, I noticed the sheets were dirty and had someone else's hair on them PUKE!!! The comforter was filthy dirty on the underside as well. I immediately called housekeeping and they changed the bedding within the hour. They also brought extra pillows and a hair dryer (forgot mine). Other than that, everything else was fine with the room. The food court was actually pretty good, not too expensive. The in room pizza is outrageous though. Cost about $22.00 for one large pizza to be delivered. The bus service was pretty efficient but often very crowded. Overall, an okay place to stay, obviously doesn't compare to the YC but DS loved the theming and the Toy Story characters!!!

We'll be staying at the YC for half the week in December (splitting with the Poly) and are looking forward to it!

Did you do much walking to Epcot?

Did the YC feel at all stuffy or formal? We chose it over the BC due to the scheduled BC rehab.

Just curious........

Thanks!

We walked over to Epcot a couple of times and it is about a five minute walk. We took the boat to MGM a couple of times too, which was convenient. The YC doesn't feel stuffy at all. The people were really nice. On another note, we hopped on the monorail from the MK and stopped in at the GF to check that out. Now that is a stuffy place!! DH went into one of the shops to buy a golf shirt and he said the CM wasn't very friendly so he walked out without buying anything. Have a good trip!

I hope those CMs are still as friendly at the YC after they encounter my 3 yo DS!! The 11 and 8 yo DDs are no problem, but Zach... well, that's another story!

Do you think it would be worth requesting any kind of location at the YC?

Thanks for the info!

Judy

The only request I made was for a non smoking room near the elevator (which didn't matter since we were on the first floor). We checked in early though, at around noon, and this was the room they had available, but if you want a specific location, it's worth a shot to request it. My son is 3.5 and he is usually well behaved, but got somewhat "bratty" on this trip and they didn't seem to mind. They gave him a coloring book and crayons at the front desk and he just loved that!!

Welcome home and thanks for your review. Sorry to hear about the sheet/bedspread incident--yuck! Glad they took care of it for you. :)

Thanks for the info especially about the mini bar. I was going to request a frig but it sounds like there is room in the mini bar for milk - do you think there is room for a few bottles of beer? Did they mind that you were using the mini bar for your personal stuff? We are staying at the Yacht Club in November in a standard room and I'm now thinking about placing a room request but have no idea what to request. I know you said the walk was long to the lobby but was there another door you could enter and exit from that was closer to the room. I like the idea of being close to the Boardwalk cause we will be spending alot evenings there.

You could fit bottles of beer in there if you lay them down or put them on the door. They didn't seem bothered that we used the mini bar. We did get charged $2.25 for something from the mini bar which we didn't drink, but I just let it slide, since we had all our stuff in it, the mousekeeper probably got confused.

We usually went out the door that was right next to the boardwalk which was just a few steps down the hall, unless we needed to catch the bus, then we took the long way out thru the lobby. We rented watermice one day, which was convenient since we were right there at that end. BTW, the watermice were soooooooo slow!! We were dissapointed that we spent $42.00 for the two boats. The ones over by the GF look like they go a lot faster. Probably has something to do with how small the lake is at the YC. Have a good trip!!
