HELLO FOLKS,

I JUST RETURNED FROM A WEEK LONG TRIP TO WDW. WE STAYED AT POR. IF ANYONE HAS ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK.

LAH

PS. I'M READY TO GO BACK!!!!!!

Hi! Welcome back!

I have a few questions. Is the POR a resort you would suggest for a twenty-something couple? Did you wait long for the buses? And were you able to see the remodeled POFQ? If so, what did you think?

I'm hoping your answers will help me make a decision.

Thanks,
Melissa

MELISSA,

I THINK YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH POR. THE RESORTS LANDSCAPE IS BEAUTIFUL. A VERY "PEACEFUL" RESORT. I'M 33 YEARS OLD. IT WAS JUST MY BF AND I ON THIS TRIP. I DID NOTICE THERE WAS A LOT OF CHILDREN WITH THEIR PARENTS MORE THEN THERE WAS COUPLES. THAT MIGHT NOT HOLD TRUE FOR WHEN YOU WILL BE GOING.

I CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE BUS SERVICE. WE NEVER WAITED MORE THEN 5 TO 7 MINUTES FOR A BUS. AT TIMES ONE BUS WOULD COME RIGHT AFTER ANOTHER ONE JUST LEFT.

I DID NOTICE WORK BEING DONE ON POFQ. I STAYED THERE DURING MY 1992 TRIP. I LOVED THAT RESORT AS WELL. (THEY ARE RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER) TO ME I LOOKS LIKE THEY STILL NEED TO PAINT THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDINGS. I COULD BE WRONG THOUGH.

I HOPE THAT HELPS WITH YOUR DECISION MAKING.

Hi! My DH and 2 DDs will be at POR for a week beginning 5/22/03. We are so excited! I have read a few posts about the rooms at POR being dirty. How was yours? How was mousekeeping? Was the foodcourt good? Thanks!:hyper:

MARIJEFF,

WE STAYED IN ROOM 2716. IT WAS A BOTTOM FLOOR CORNER ROOM. ( I WANTED THAT EXTRA WINDOW)

THE MOUSEKEEPING WAS WONDERFUL. NO COMPLAINTS THERE. I DIDNT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH OUR ROOM NOR DID I HEAR ANY COMPLAINTS FROM THE OTHER GUESTS WE CAME IN CONTACT WITH.

THE FOOD COURT WAS GREAT!!!!! EVERY MEAL WE HAD THERE WAS GOOD. I CAN TELL YOU THAT THE LINES DID GET LONG BETWEEN 7 AND 9PM. I WILL ASSUME THAT WAS BECAUSE THE PARKS CLOSED AT 7:00 AND EVERYONE CAME BACK TO THE RESORT TO EAT.

HOPE THAT HELPS.

DH and I are a twentysomething couple and we had planned to stay at POR during our Spring Break trip but switched to AKL because we got a good AP rate. I'm a little sad to be missing out on POR. I had heard sooooo many nice things about it. Lots of people claim that it's the most romantic of all the moderate resorts. I'm sure you all will have a good time!

thanks lah! that reassures me. we thought about changing to POFQ since it's newly redone, but we love POR. How did you go about requesting your corner room?:earsgirl:

MARIJEFF,

WE ARRIVED ON MONDAY THE 2ND SO FRIDAY BEFORE I LEFT WORK I SENT POR A FAX REQUESTING BUILDING 27, TOP FLOOR, CORNER ROOM. I GOT EVERYTHING BUT THE TOP FLOOR WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE JUST FINE BECAUSE AFTER A DAY AT THE PARKS THE LAST THING I WANTED TO DO WAS CLIMB A FLIGHT OF STAIRS.

Lah,

I also requested Bldg 27 when I made my reservation. How far is it from main bldg? I'm happy to hear that faxing in your request worked. I think that I'll do the same and request a corner room also!
Thanks.

MINNIECRUSIER,

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY IT WASNT MORE THEN A 5 MIN. WALK TO THE FOOD COURT AND MAIN BLDG. (A VERY PLEASANT WALK ALONG THE RIVER)

LAH

ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!!!!

we are going for a week in july, we are sooooo excited! has this property been re-habbed?if not, when? i could have sworn that i read about it in the fall....
thanks!!!--maria::MinnieMo

We're going in 16 days... We're you happy with Bldg 27 or would you have preferred a different bldg? When making my ressie I asked for non-smoking room in Bldg 18, and have now come to find out I'm contradicting myself.... Bldg 18 is a SMOKING bldg !!! I really don't care which bldg as long as it's non-smoking, however I was planning to fax a request for Bldg 27, top floor, corner room. Is 27 better than say 14 for noise, crowds, etc.? Thanks!

MARIA & 1SWEETPEA,

I did hear someone at the resort say they will be starting rehab but I am sorry to say I dont recall when. Maybe someone else reading this post has the answer to that.

1Sweetpea- I did like Bldg. 27, it did seem to be very quiet, better then Bldg. 14. It also had a pool and laundry fac. right outside the bldg but I have to say after spending the whole day (every day) at the parks I was rather exhausted walking to the room. Next time I might choose a closer building to the food court and main building but it wont be bldg. 14.

Hope I was of some help.

Hi there,

Can you tell me why you would not request building 14? I just got a good rate for a weekend beginning of March, and requested that building because it was closest to the food court and bus stop. I have three small children so thought it would be convenient!

Therese

Therese,

Building 14 might be perfect for you and your family. On my trip it was just my BF and I so we wanted a building that didnt have a lot of "traffic" so to speak.

Hope that helps.

LAH,

Thanks for answering questions! We will be at POR in a couple of weeks. I am trying to figure out our schedule, but I am not sure how to time a couple of things. If you can help, I'd really appreciate it!

1) We have a 5:00 pm ressie at HDDR. Did you go? If so, how did you get there from POR? How long did it take?

2) We have a 9:15 am PS at Chef Mickey's. Same questions. How to get there, and how long?

3) How was the boat ride to Downtown Disney? When did it run?

4) How long is the bus ride to MK?

I can't seem to find this kind of information online. Ok, all. I think I'll spill this and maybe someone out there can help me out! lol I've set up HDDR for our first full day. That day is also my sons' 8th birthday. HDDR is one of their favorite memories from the first trip. I wanted to go to MK that day also. I'm afraid we'll really have to cut the day back in order to get to HDDR by 4:30 pm. One other option is to stay at MK all day and go straight to FW from MK. I'm a bit afraid that will be too much. Anyone out there have an opinion? I could really use some advice!

Thanks!

REBECCA,

LETS SEE IF I CAN HELP YOU.

1. NO, I DID NOT GO TO HDDR. I HOPE SOMEONE ELSE CAN HELP YOU WITH THAT QUESTION.

2. PS @ CHEF MICKEY, TAKE THE BUS THAT IS GOING TO MK. FROM THERE YOU CAN EITHER WALK (WHICH WE DID ONE NIGHT) OVER THE THE CONT. FOR YOUR PS OR TAKE THE MONORAIL FROM MK TO THE CONT. IF YOUR PS AT 9:15, I WOULD SAY TO BE AT THE BUS DEPOT BY 8:30. THAT SHOULD ALLOW ENOUGH TIME FOR YOUR PS.

3. WE TOOK THE BOAT RIDE TO DTD SEVERAL TIMES. B4 4:00PM THE BOAT RUNS ONCE AN HOUR. AFTER 4PM THE BOATS RUN EVERY 15 MINS. YOU SHOULD ENJOY THE RIDE. VERY RELAXING.

4. THE BUS RIDE TO MK IS ABOUT 10 MINS.

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!!

Magooflorida - Hi! We were at POR in 2002. We took a bus to HDDR (I think it was the water park bus, but I could be wrong....it couldve been the DD bus, but I seem to think it was the TL bus....). Anyways...it took forever-I bet almost an hour. We stopped all over the place and at several camping loops within FW. But the show the worth it! Leave early and have fun!:yo-yo:

sorry about that previous post, it was really for ThwTminsmom, for you Magooflorida.....we stayed in building 14. I had DDs 7 and 5 at that time and the building was extremely convenient. Very nice to be that close to the food court, etc. We did not notice any problem with noise, and I am very sensitive to that. We did have a corner room which was very nice. Have fun!
