our fabulous vacation came to an end last night as we arrived back into JFK. We were there 9/29-10/4 and loved every minute of it. We we in Building 6 and 2 rooms connecting, one was a corner room. That extra window really does open up the room. The resort got crowded on Friday night but the parks weren't. We walked onto almost every ride. It was my MIL and BIL 's first time in WDW and they want me to start planning our trip back next year. Any questions feel free to ask.

We check in to POFQ 10/31 and cannot wait! Did the rooms have the fridges in them yet or are they still working on that?

Just thought I'd say - we also check into POFQ on Oct 31st!

We just returned from 7 nights at POFQ and loved it. I stayed at CBR 2 yrs ago and POFQ topped it hands down. It is smaller and everything is close. We stayed in building 3 and had a King bed on the third floor. I couldn't believe how comfortable the bed was which was good because we were stuck in our room for a day and a half due to the hurricane. You can't go wrong with this hotel.

Travelnut - Was your king bed room a handicapped king - or a non-handicapped king, i.e. - did it have a bathtub?

We are staying there in December and are getting conflicting responses as to the non-handicapped kings.

Also - what view (standard, river) was your corner room?

Thanks!

The fridges were not in the rooms yet but we got a fridge in each room at no charge. I requested them at check-in. Housekeeping said that they should start the process of installing them shortly. They are going to be in wooden cabinets to match the furniture in the room.

Our corner room was a standard view

We went to CBR for 1 night (I know, we're nuts!) Sept. 18th, and they had the fridge in the room already in a neat little cabinet that matched the armoire. They're getting there! Maybe by the time you get tdown there all the mods will have them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I just returned yesterday from the POFQ, and I *loved* it! I am a Poly fan, so I was very reticent to change to a moderate. But the atmosphere of the POFQ was very nice and the staff was wonderful!

The only difference I could find between the Poly and the POFQ was: only one gift shop, only one restaurant, and tile instead of marble in the bathrooms. Oh, and the elevator needed to be swept out. Big whoop! ;)

As much as I love the Polynesian theme, I've come to the conclusion that it's not worth $1,000 more (six nights) than the POFQ!

Oh, and when I checked in, I asked about the refrigerators. The CM told me that there was a very long waiting list, so I told her not to worry about it, since I brought a very nice cooler. Well, first thing the next morning, a CM showed up at my room with a fridge! Free of charge! :D

And FYI, when I was on the bus passing the PO Riverside, I saw a big truck delivering lots of little fridges, so they *are* in the process of installing them in the rooms.

I'm rambling here, but remember to visit John, the bartender at the pool at POFQ. He's very nice, and has been there for around 12 years!

Lisa1,

We had a King room in building 3 #3318. Corner room overlooking a courtyard. The room was non-handicap and had a bathtub. We requested a refrig. and got one with no problem. Really enjoyed our stay there.

Our first trip to POFQ is coming up very quickly. Thanks for the great reviews. I think we made a wise choice for a resort - I keep reading great things about it ;) !

Can anyone confirm exactly what buildings are smoking? We have a guaranteed non-smoking room because one DD has asthma. I like the location of Bldg 4 but I see some people say that this is smoking. Please confim if you can :D !

I just yesterday booked two connecting rooms at POFQ for February. We are staying one night before our Wonder cruise on 2/13/05. We stayed here once several years ago and I look forward to staying here again. I really enjoy a Deluxe, but when you need two rooms, POFQ is the way to go!

Glad to hear you liked it.

We were at POFQ 9/30 - 10/4. The resort didn't seem crowded and we could easily get on the buses. The pool got busy by mid afternoon. The parks were very light. We never waited more than 15 minutes for any ride.

We requested a fridge at check in and it was delivered within an hour.

We asked for an upgraded room and they put us in a river view room in Bldg 6 on the 3rd floor. The CM tried to get us a corner (have always had one at WDW - like the extra window) but none were available with double beds with a river view. We were in 6347. 6348 is the corner looking at the POR, so we were right at the end of the building.

Travelnut - We had that exact room (3318) on our Honeymoon 11 years ago. Loved the location and view. Very close to the main building and bus stop.

I have a couple questions:

1 - Did you have a regular or water view booked?? If you had the regular how did you ask for the other and did you have to pay extra?

2 - Corner Room - Is it noisy because of stairs?

3 - Which building do you like best?

4 - Which buildings are non-smoking?

Thank you for the help, we are trying to figure out what requests to put on our ressies.

Building 4 is a smoking building now because I asked recently. We stayed there last time, but it was non-smoking. CM (who was very nice) recommended building 3 which is opposite side of main building (like 4 only the other side) or 5. Be sure to request a garden view, not parking lot. In 5 you can only get a garden view. The resort is so small nothing is a far walk - well definitely not 3 or 5 !

Corner room: we had a corner room and did not find it noisy (more noisy??) at all...what is wodnerful about corner rooms is that it does make the space feel larger -esp with the darker decor. The garden views are quite pretty - I actually like them better than the water view at this resort.

Smoking: Buildings 2, 4 and the top 2 floors of 6 are designated Smoking rooms.

Have a look at this faq page: http://allearsnet.com/acc/faq_po.htm

BTW, I was at the GF from 9/29 to 10/2 and the MK was SOOO crowded on the 30th! World Showcase was crowded Friday night, but that was due to the Festival. Also, it was hotter than usual for that time of September - did you notice that too?

Welcome back everyone!! You make me long for a POFQ visit!!!

Christine
p.s. In the early 90's every room at the CBR had a fridge in a small wood cabinet just as described. A couple of yrs later they disappeared! So now they are coming back! Great!! Wonder why they ever removed the fridges??

I thought they wouldn't guarantee non-smoking rooms? I thought it was only a request you could make...

Hi, lfontaine,

Non-smoking rooms will be guaranteed if someone in your family has a medical condition i.e. I have MS and allergies. I am always careful to tell this to CRO and ask them to read back my request to be sure they got it correct. Have never had a problem getting a non-smoking room.

I do not require a handicapped room, but sometimes they put this on my reservation (without my requesting it). Last month I had to call several times to get the request removed from my reservation as I did not want to hold up a handicap room from someone who needs one.

Checking in to POFQ on the 30th!!! Can't WAIT to get there! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Checking into POFQ on Saturday and I CAN'T wait!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Its been a  week at work and I am ready to say :wave2: to work and  ::yes:: to ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo !!!

Ok can you tell I am excited? I have so much to do but can't pull myself away from the computer (about died earlier when I couldn't get on the internet at all!!) I am getting off now so I can get my stuff done so I can relax and have fun at WDW!!

We just got back from POFQ on Tuesday night. Stayed 9/30-10/5 in building #5. I love it there! If I am going to stay at a moderate in the future it will be at French Quarter. I loved that there were no lines for the buses, at the food court, to check-in or out, at the store etc. It really seemed uncrowded.

Saturday night World Showcase was mobbed! We got there around six, ate some dinner and snagged a spot for Illuminations. I hate crowds! Other than that night the parks seemed pretty empty. We wandered over to MK on Monday night to catch Wishes and it seemed kind of crowded to me but not bad.

MNSSHP on the 3rd was great!

Our room was very clean and the pool was great. All the CM's were very friendly too.

I noticed that the grounds and landscaping all around Disney are going to take a lot of work to clean up after the hurricanes.
