just returned from POFQ

How would you word your request at POFQ??

I was going to add it to our ressies through the CROs.

Would something like this be okay?

"Building 3 or 5, non smoking, upper floor, corner room, garden view."

I realize that this is only a request and no guarantees I will get any of it, but I would like to try.

Perfect request! Only one thing - which is more important to you, non-smoking or building location? Be sure to put in order of importance to you!

Enjoy!!

BaciBecky - AllEarsNet is incorrect. We were on the 3rd floor of building 6 (room 6347) this past weekend. I know for sure that the rooms on our floor in our wing were non-smoking. All of them had the non-smoking signs on the doors. I can't say for certain, but I believe the middle wing on the top floor facing the river was non-smoking as well. Almost every room I saw had a non-smoking sign on it.

Also, we must have different opinions on crowds. DW and I both commented on how light the crowds were in World Showcase on Friday night. We got a good position for Illuminations right at 9:00. It was easy to move around the park as well. We thought that all parks were dead while we were there. We did not do MK on the 30th, so I can't comment on that.

I did notice it being very warm. Humid too. We did BB on Sunday before MNSSHP. It was even warm just in a swim suit. :sunny:

Winnie Pooh Fan - We had a standard view room booked. When we got there, which was at 11:30 a.m., I asked the CM if there were any upgrades available. I told him that Sat 10/2 was our anniversary (which it was). He didn't even hesitate. He even went out of his way to try and get us a waterview corner room. He couldn't get that, but he did put us in a waterview. He said the section we were in was his favorite part of the resort. Even if I didn't mention the anniversary, I think he would have upgraded us. It didn't seem that there was many people in the river view rooms. People must have booked the standards and no one asked for upgrades.

As for corner rooms, I don't find them to be noisy at all. Especially if you are on the top floor. Bottom floor maybe, but I've never stayed on the ground floor. Corner veiws are nice. I missed that this year. It does brighten the room up.

When we go back, I will put a request in for Building 5. Perfect location, and you don't have to worry about the view you get. It will either be courtyard, pool or river.

Nuke - MNSSHP was great on the 3rd, wasn't it? We walked on every ride. We had PS at LTT and got out at 6:55. Headed right to Splash Mtn and walked right on. There were only 10 other people on the ride. When we got done, I joked with the CM that we'll keep going. She said we could ride again if we wanted. Only 2 people were in line. DW wife is scared of the drop, so we got off. She only went on for DS (4 1/2). This was only his 2nd time on it. He loves it. The picture afterwards had Dad and Son smiling with Mom screaming. :teeth: :teeth: :scared1: They had to shut the ride down for a while shortly after we got off for some reason, so I don't know if that is why there was no one in line. I wish I would have had the CM take a picture of us in the log with no one in line. That doesn't happen too often. We walked on every ride except the Speedway in Tomorrow Land. That was only a 5 - 10 minute wait.

Hi, lfontaine,

Non-smoking rooms will be guaranteed if someone in your family has a medical condition i.e. I have MS and allergies. I am always careful to tell this to CRO and ask them to read back my request to be sure they got it correct. Have never had a problem getting a non-smoking room.

I do not require a handicapped room, but sometimes they put this on my reservation (without my requesting it). Last month I had to call several times to get the request removed from my reservation as I did not want to hold up a handicap room from someone who needs one.

What documentation do you have to provide to get a guarantee for a non-smoking room? DH is allergic to smoke and, while I have not been tested, I believe I am to as if I stay in a smoking permitted room where there is smoke in the furniture, carpet, bed, etc, I get a severe headache. I really don't want to spend my WDW vacation with a bad headache.

Travelgoddess: My DS (5) and I will be there the 30th through the 6th and we are coming from Michigan too!!! Are you going to MNSSHP on Halloween night?

Hi, JLDSMD,

Good to know about allearsnet.com errors. I think it is always best to call the front desk of the resort - which is what I do and they've always been very nice about helping with a CR0 request. This is not the request a few days before arrival (which I don't usually do), but on the reservation through CRO.

As for the crowds at World Showcase on October 1 - when we left for the day - about 6 pm, it was quite crowded. Sounds like it thinned out by Illuminations time, but when we left you had to make a way through the crowd to get back to Future World - thinned out there. Maybe due to the time of day? You know, the kind of crowds where you are not sure where to walk as someone is always coming at you on foot or with stroller and there is no where to go to get out of the way.

During the day on the 30th at MK - the afternoon crowds surprised me. Actual long lines at some attractions - well, 30+ min lines. We've never stood in non-holiday or non-summer lines more than 15 mins. Been going since 1981 :)

Not 4th of July crowds or any holiday!!! But more crowded than past experience at the same time of yr.

Questions - You call the resort instead of CRO?? I thought they didn't have the reservation at the resort until a few days before arrival??

Should I call the resort or CRO (WDWTC)??

Thank you for the help!

BaciBecky,

We didn't arrive until late in the day. I can't remember exactly, but had to have been between 4 and 5 (if not a little later). We did AK in the morning, looking to leave by 1, but didn't leave until closer to 2 or 2:30. We then did the FQ pool before heading to EPCOT.

We did Future World when we got there and that was very thinned out. 5 minute wait for test track. No wait for Honey I Shrunk the Audience and no one even in the Figment ride. Spaceship Earth looked dead too. Didn't do Mission Space so I can't comment. By the time we got to WS, after 6 or 6:30 it was thinned out. I was concerned about there being large crowds due to the festival, but was surprised when we got there.

We must have hit the parks at the right time this weekend.

We did MK on Sat nt and with only 15 min before Spectro, DS got a spot right on the curb. That night we had no more than a 15 minute wait on the rides we wanted to do. Space and Splash had 45 - 60 min waits, but we FPs those.

We went this same time last year (stayed a week then) and loved it. The crowds aren't too big (not like next weeks - Columbus Day) and the weather is warm (DW likes it hot).

We'll be in Disneyland next year since my brother is getting married, but if it is early enough in Sept, maybe we'll sneak a WDW trip in later in Oct (before Halloween weekend).:D

Just let CRO know when you make your reservation and if you want, call the resort directly about 3 days before you arrive, ask for the front desk and (very nicely;) ask them to be your room will be non-smoking.

Of course, what they cannot guarentee is that someone will have smoked in the room anyway. It's never happened to me and I am extremely sensitive to smoke. If you do check-in and your room smells like smoke call the front desk immediately. I find the mosre patient and kinder one can be with the CMs they try to do everything they can to help. I've never been rude to them, but I am always very nice and grateful for their help. Sometimes it's hard when I'm tired and just arrived!!

If I require a room change and the CM has been very patient, cherful and helpful, I'll even call the supervisor or drop off a note of thanks.

Sorry, let me clarify: if you have a question about , for instance, which building is non-smoking, you can call the resort and ask which buildings you should request when speaking with CRO.

If you have a very important request then you could also call 3-5 days before you arrive and be sure they have your request noted. The CMs are especially nice at POFQ and POR.

I try not to call the few days ahead unless I have a medical concern. Like one time I could not walk due to knee surgery, so I called ahead to be sure they understood my room location request.

Hope this helps. pm or email me if you want :)

I called POFQ and building 4 is smoking - how about 3 or 5? Both great locations!

JLDSMD,
Maybe it was the area of WS when were leaving. Was fine earlier - but I was so hot and tired maybe it seemd more crowded that actually was!!

BaciBecky,

Thank you for your awsome help on POFQ. We had a truely magical trip to WL and I'm trying to make sure our trip to POFQ is also great.
