My DH decided on Christmas Eve day that he wanted to leave on Christmas afternoon for WDW!!! Well, of course, I didn't say No (after much persuading on the CB board) and had to call CRO for ressies since MS was closed.

We stayed at AKL, and yes, they allowed 5 of us there. My 3 year old acutally wanted to sleep in the crib!!! The resort was beautiful and it was great waking up to see the animals out the balconey but..........I missed the luxury of the 2 BR!!!!!!!! I got sick at RFC on Friday night (I passed out!!) and we had to go back to the AKL with all 5 of us in one room!!!! My DH took the girls to the lobby for a while but didn't want to leave me alone for too long. (I'm feeling better now)

I missed the luxury of having coffee on the balcony when you wake up, the spaciousness of the units, the "at home" feeling, the VCR's and the kitchen (even though we don't cook!!).

Can't wait to go home in August.........

A sad note though, it was sad driving by PO and DxL at night and the lights were out!!!!!

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better. That must have been scary.

I know what you mean about having 5 people in one hotel room. It makes for a much less pleasant stay, no matter how luxurious the resort is.

A big part of the reason that our family has such wonderful WDW vacations is that we stay in the 2 bedroom units. Everyone has some privacy, everyone gets a good night's sleep and we stock the fridge with cold drinks and goodies. It makes a big difference.

We are headed down to WDW in 18 days and are staying in a savanah view AKL room the first night before our 2 bedroom is ready. It will only be the 2 of us at AKL, though, so we thought it would be a good chance to try it. I figure I can suffer through a hotel room for one night!:D Our poor guests decided to stay at All Stars, so we feel good about our decision. Did you like the AKL?

Diane, the AKL was awesome. If you like WL, you will also like the AKL. There are alot of similarities as far as decore and the "feel" of that type of resort. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed the savannah view.

The girls enjoyed the pool even though it was a bit chilly out. We ate breakfast at Boma's every morning. My DH loves it there.

I am sure you'll have a great time. Enjoy!!!

Happy New Year to all my DVC friends...

How on earth did you get airfare at the last minute? That's one thing I've never had to do....

Just another note, if you want to make a reservation for the same day, or a check-in date before MS opens for business, you can call the DVC resort directly & have them make your reservation for you... We did this in September after our flight was cancelled.... From the airport I called the BWV's & said I needed a room on points for that night... so I got them without a problem as there was availability....

I assume you liked AKL?? we stayed a couple of weeks ago, and while it wasn't as large as a villa, for 2 nights it was very nice & the animals were amazing!

Chris1gill.....we drove!!!! Yes, all 1300 plus miles of it!!
