Just returned, Blue Card sadness

If you didn’t go in the park, my understanding was the ticket use date expires but that the value of the ticket stays and you can call and have that amount applied the ticket you need next time you visit.

I have only heard them doing this when none of the ticket is used. But, if you use any of the days, the unused expire.

When I asked customer service they said the unused days, when you don’t tap into the park, the value of the ticket stays but you have to call ticket services and have it “brought back to life” and credit applied to a new date (you pay difference if more but will
Not get refunded if you pick a cheaper day. This is for a theme park multi day ticket alone, not a package, I’ve never bought a package before. Does that sound right? Now I’m worried I didn’t understand.

That has not been our experience. Once a ticket was used for any of the days, no matter what, you couldn't simply save days for future use...it would be like making them a non expiring ticket to a certain degree.

We had a 4 day ticket this summer and did not use the 4th day. That value was lost. I was not able to use it to apply toward another ticket I was buying.

Now, I also had a 3 day ticket that was purchased for someone who did not travel. That ticket, because it was never used, was applied for toward the purchase of the ticket I needed to get for the October trip. Since the October days were more than the July days, I did have to pay the difference.

So, unless things are different since July, I don't think the information you were given is correct. Completely unused tickets never lose their value. Partially used tickets also have except when Disney offered the non expiring option.

I understand what you are saying with the weather--this past Friday was not just the usual bad Florida weather. It rained non-stop for the entire day. Started before the first park opened, and didn't stop until after the last park closed. Non-stop. Yes, it's Florida and it often rains, but rarely like that. It was quite miserable. So people, be nice to OP.
Friday was by far the worst weather day we have ever had at Disney in 30+ trips. A cold pouring soaking all day all night rain. Miserable, luckily we were at Boardwalk with a dinner reservation at Trattoria so we were able to pop over to Epcot during the few minutes that the rain let up. Still had soaked shoes/socks though so thankful for the dryer in our 1BR., We were able to walk to Abracadabar and Trattoria under cover so we at least stayed dry for dinner.

You did that over the phone? Or MDE?

In person via ticketing when I was there. But I also upgraded a ticket over the phone to different days. But again, it was unused.
Thanks so much for helping me figure that out, the CM I was talking to on the phone and I were not on the same page! Yikes glad I know now.

Just returned from a wonderful 6 day trip (VGF) even with terrible weather. I finally have noticed, that Disney doesn't care about us. Disney only cares about your money.
If the weather is absolutely abysmal, you really should get a park refund or at least allow one day of your ticket to be used another time. I bought a 4 day (that expired 6 days from purchase) but being from out of state (like most visitors) it's not practical to change airline reservations to stay another day if you get washed out.
Another issue was with my coveted blue card. I bought a TON of stuff, from all over the parks. Food and Merchandise. I remember it ALWAYS worked for a little something. On this trip, it was hitting less than 50%. Independent kiosks all over (even the popcorn one right next to the castle) rejected it. Everything at Disney Springs rejected it and some of the restaurants also.
On the sunny side, they did away with the mask stormtroopers that would walk around and point at you if your mask wasn't up around your eyelids. Many people didn't even have a mask and were inside/outside. The new walkway to MK from VGF was wonderful and fast (12 minutes door to door)
From my experience, outside kiosks have never given a discount. Food discounts are limited to "sit down" dining, from what I understand.

.... Say what?

Kiosk's and QS have never accepted DVC discounts except in a few very, very rare exceptions.

That is somewhat more ambiguous. If the place is owned by Disney, it will accept discounts (Pin trading post, World of Disney, etc). Many of the outside chains do not; but they have from time to time (I have had Sunglasses hut and I think Pandora once, but again, it depends on their mood and the weather and how desperate they are for sales at that time of year). I am not sure if they make their own rules in this regards or not. Remember that blue card discounts are NEVER guaranteed.

Other than that, it sounds like you had a good trip.... so, yay? I mean none of these were really DVC issues - they all fit in the contract (parks are completely unrelated).

Florida is not the sun shine state, Arizona is.

Sorry you got rained out though, I've been rained out on other vacations like Hawaii and it's always a bummer.

Did the state of Hawaii offer you "a day back" on your Va-cay ??? Not getting on LYSE, but OP be real here.

I'm a Blue Card holder too. Big Whoop (which is nicer than what I really wanna' say about my Card). I don't expect anything xtra from Disney. Get some "awesome" 10% offs at Table Service, got to go to Typhoon Lagoon at night a couple of times for member nights a few years ago. If I get it, "cool". If not, Oh well ! I don't "covet" my Card.
Cool tho if U do.

This just reeks of entitlement.

Well....

It used to be that a pretty good rainstorm would thin out the crowds. I kind of like a good 1 hour soaking in the afternoon, unless it is accompanied by a nasty lightning storm!
The main Blue Card perk that I miss is the Moonlight Magic events. Most of all the other benefits we seem to get with out season pass. Hope they bring back MM!

When getting bottled drink we try to buy inside Disney stores where we get 20% off instead of the food carts that are 0.00 off. Last time we were yearly pass holders for the discount. Next time we will be DVC and pass holders. We understand that these discounts are not guaranteed… they are considered extras and can be taken away or adjusted as Disney wants. But the customer should always be treated respectfully as well as the staff.

Nah just perfect weather for the flight out, and pretty empty pools at Aulani during the down pours.

I remember a couple years back having Christmas Party tickets and it was cold rain the whoooole time. We powered through in ponchos but my feet were like ice back at the hotel that night. Fireworks show was a total bust--the rain obscured the projections and it was too murky to really see much pyro. It says right there when you buy the tickets "rain or shine"--I was very impressed with the performers powering through the Christmas shows in the pouring rain. But I did decide that was the last time we'd buy party tickets in advance! Now if we decide to do it a party again we'll just get tickets day-of, assuming the weather looks good. Live and learn.

One thing we always do just as a precaution is book a late flight home on the last day but NOT buy a park ticket for that day. That way, if we ever had to skip a park day, we could use the ticket for a half day before leaving for our flight. Something to consider.

When I was working custodial in Fantasyland I had a lady complaining to me about the rain and wanting to know who to talk to for a refund. She wasn't amused when I pointed out all of the indoor rides that she was standing near. So I told her she could feel free to talk to Guest Services. That day I was mighty glad to be a lowly custodian and not in Guest Services dealing with that lady!

Unrealistic expectations always lead to disappointment. You can find a list of all member benefits and discounts on the DVC website. There are 207 dining discounts and 56 shopping ones.

Clark: Roy; can I call you Roy? Have you even driven your whole family cross-country?
Roy Walley: Oh, <> yes. Once I drove all of them to Florida. The smell coming out of the back seat was terrible.
Clark: I know that smell, Roy; but what if you had driven all that way and Florida was closed?
Roy Walley: Closed? Uh, they don't close Florida.
