Hoy Cow Mickey!

I just received my information on DVC. They sent this beautiful purple book with all the information one could imagine. Needless to say, I'm sold!

Now, I need your help. We booked a room at AKL for 03/19-03/23. We paid the total of $1800. Do you think we should cancel our trip, get a refund and put that money down on DVC?

Any pro's or con's? I'm not thinking straight because I'm so excited about DVC! I'm like a kid in a candy store!

Well, first I think you should slow down. Take a deep breath and put away the information. Of course you are sold. That is what Disney specializes in. I am in the same boat as you--I want to do this like crazy but it is a big step. You don't say how long you have been thinking about this or anything. Unless you have the cash on hand though, I think you should take a close look at your goals etc.

If you do decide to do it, yeah, I would def cancel the reservation you already have and use that money.

We have been thinking about this for three years. We live on the west coast of FL, so we go three-four times a year right now and always stay on the property.

It just doesn't make much sense to me to spend money on a non-DVC visit, if we are headed in that direction.

DH and I have been going to WDW since our Honeymoon in 2000-2001 (over New Years). We were able to stay at resorts on a 50% cast member discount, so DVC never seemed to make sense then when we could stay at the Concierge level for $1100/week, or (more often), the value and moderate resorts for $500 or less.

Now that CM that we knew retired, it made sense for us to buy into DVC. IMO, if you're putting $1800 into a hotel stay (the down payment on 150 points through Disney is around $1300), AND visiting WDW often, it probably makes sense for your family.

Obviously, there's other considerations. But on the surface, considering that you've been considering it for awhile now, it's probably a good idea. :thumbsup2

Only YOU know when its time to go DVC....and....hopefully you went thru Disney and will be in the system in 2 weeks...Good move prices are rising..again!

Talk to your guide to expedite the closing..explain the March vacation!!!

When your "IN the System", make DVC ressies ... ;)

THEN..YES...cancel AKL ressies...save the big bucks for a "hotel room" and roll some $$ towards your DVC stay!!!
:thumbsup2

I would. You can put down your deposit and make reservations at least the following day.

Well, there ya go! If you have been thinking about it for so long and are still excited, then it is clearly something that you really want. I would do it and cancel that $1800 vacation and put that $$ toward DVC.

If money is a factor then cancel and use it on buying DVC. If not go and take the DVC tour befor you buy.
