Halloween treats
As long as there has been darkness, we have populated it with
monsters and things that go bump in the night. During the
Halloween season, we are often confronted with dealing with the
things that scare us.
In the 1959 issue of WISDOM magazine, Walt Disney stated: "I
didn't treat my youngsters like frail flowers and I think no
parent should. Life is composed of lights and shadows and we
would be untruthful, insincere and saccharine if we tried to
pretend there were no shadows. Most things are good, and they are
the strongest things, but there are evil things, too, and you
could do a child no favor by trying to shield it from reality.
The important thing is to teach a child that good can always
triumph over evil, and that is what our pictures do." more...

Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa!
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is the new name for the
former Disney Institute site and is sure to be one of the best
Member and Guest resort experiences ever at the Walt Disney
World(R) Resort. The property is named for Saratoga Springs, NY,
a popular summer retreat in the Northeast, famous for its natural
mineral springs, spas, and quaint, upstate village atmosphere.
Expansion of Disney Institute professional development programs
to convention resorts across Walt Disney World Resort property
eliminated the need for a dedicated Disney Institute resort.
When the resort opens in Spring 2004, it will feature 184
proposed Disney Vacation Club ownership accommodations in four
3- and 4-story residential-style buildings. Studios, one- and
two-bedroom villas and Grand Villa units are planned, along with
a theme pool, playground and barbeque pavilion. Preparation for
construction has already begun with the removal of existing
townhome structures on the 16-acre site slated for Disney
Vacation Club units. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is
planned to be a part of the Disney Vacation Club neighborhood
subject to obtaining all necessary approvals.
The Spa at The Disney Institute remains open to guests during
construction. Take a first look at Disney's Saratoga Springs
Resort & Spa artist rendering and look for additional information
here in "News of Note" and in future issues of Vacation Magic,
as it becomes available.

Disney's Beach Club Villas
The mascot for Disney's Beach Club Villas is everyone's favorite
mermaid, Ariel. This Ariel statue is cast in bronze, with a
special heat-resistant coating, so she remains cool to the touch
even in the hot Florida sun. She is at the entrance to the resort
welcoming you "home" each and every time you visit.
On your way to Dunes Cove pool, be sure not to just
"breeze-through" The Breezeway. Here you will see a wide variety
of memorabilia and artifacts collected through the decades here
at the beach: artwork ranging from oil paintings to watercolors,
prints, postcards, photographs and even seaside treasures
collected by previous owners and visitors displayed for all to
enjoy. Be sure to look at the distinctive oil painting that shows
the Disney's Beach Club Villas' "Grand Opening" during the
1880's. A who's who of society turned out for this special
celebration, dressed in their finery as marked the start of a new
vacation era at the resort.
The rooms at Disney's Beach Club Villas have a casual, relaxing
beach influence. The furniture features weathered wood finishes
with accents of shells, seahorses, and wave details. The wicker
chairs, simple pattern fabrics, and bedspread all help to create
a comfortable feeling, too. And our friend Ariel is here as well
with other characters from Disney's The Little Mermaid, hidden
"under the sea" in the bedspread coverlet. The artwork also
conveys the beach theme. Be sure to notice the painting over the
sofa, which shows a family enjoying the beach and features a
variety of "Hidden Mickey" surprises.
Come on by and "sea" the Disney's Beach Club Villas' model rooms
during your next visit. The rooms are open daily from 9:00 am to
5:00 pm. Just stop by the Disney Vacation Club Information
Center in the Disney's Beach Club Villas' lobby and follow the
signs to the model rooms.
