DBF and I have a tradition: the First Friday date night - first Friday of every month we make sure to have a date. Well, I had a long day (up at 5:30, babysat for 9 hours, an starting to get sick) and so did he (boss stressing him out at work). We were going to go see "Pursuit of Happyness". Well, he falls asleep on the couch, and when I go to wake him up he is incredibly rude, which continues for about 5 minutes. I get upset, he gets upset, now we're not speaking. I want to speak to him, but he won't speak to me except to tell me not to cry b/c the neighbors might hear. I begged him to go, to just spend time with me, since he has to work with a group for school tomorrow night...
Anyway, I am totally bummed, exhausted, getting more sick by the minute, and incredibly lonely. My first friday date night has turned into a bunch of sad nothing =(

Don't really want advice, just hugs and happy thoughts =D Thanks!

My husband and I go out every friday for our date night. This has gone on for years with us hardly ever missing a friday night. Even when I have meetings for my quilt guild we act like "big People" and go out to dinner at 10PM. Having said that, last night I was pooped and so was he. We came home and crashed on the couch. I slept for 1/2 an hour and thought - this is crazy we can go out tomorrow and be more refreshed and awake. Told him I'd make him a bowl of soup, put my pj's on and we'd stay home. He was relieved and so was I.

I don't know how long you 2 have been together but after 32 years, we can wait a day. I'm sorry you were disappointed, I hope you feel better today, go to the movie tomorrow in the afternoon, it's cheaper and then go out for an early supper so you'll be refreshed on Monday. I think you'll BOTH enjoy your time together when your not so tired.

BTW, our day starts at 4:30 every weekday so I can understand that tired feeling by 6PM.

I don't understand.....you are getting sick and he is massively stressed.....

Sounds like you both needed a quiet night at home.:confused3

I think you picked a battle that shouldn't have occured in the first place.

Life happens...get over it and move on. A person can have a bad day and be in a bad mood so give your BF a break. Hope you feel better today.

Sorry, I know this is from last night. But if you're sick and exhausted why do you need to go to a movie? Why can't you spend the evening together at home? And is this really cry-worthy? :confused3

Are you guys still in high school? You mention school... or is it college?

This certainly isn't worthy of tears and getting all worked up about. Try to cut him a break and be a little more flexible. Things happen.

Hope you're feeling better anyway!

{{{HUGS}}} just because you need one.

I understand your dissappointment, but welcome to the real world. Things aren't always going to go according to your plans. Flexibility is the key in any relationship. Don't make him choose your way or the highway- you won't like what he chooses.

Men aye

Sending you some pixie dust and hugs )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) :grouphug: :wizard:

:grouphug: and hope you feel better. I know the little things get to me much more when I am sick. Even after 12 yrs of marriage.;)
