:earsboy: We will be staying at Shades of Green from August 15-23 2004! I am really looking forward to seeing all of the changes they are making there.

Is anyone else going to be there during that time?

Not quite, but we'll be there right before you....July 30-August 6. I'm looking forward to seeing the "new" Shades of Green, too. We've stayed there a couple times before, but it was several years ago.

We stayed there in August 2001 for our first (and only) family trip to WDW and loved it so much. I loved the secluded feel of the resort and it was very quiet, not a ton of kids running around. That is the only thing that worries me-- that since they are expanding so much, they will lose that special secluded quality that we loved so much.

But we are willing to chance it again because the rates are so awesome, and I can't wait to see what the new SoG looks like. I am thinking about buying one of the bricks to put in the sidewalk to surprise my hubby!!

We may be there for a couple of days while you are - I have to wait until next Monday, then I'll be making a reservation for 21 - 30 August next year.

lolatuck - I'm curious as to what they told you about the deposit? I was told they no longer needed a deposit if you held with a credit card, but others who were going earlier in the year did have to pay a deposit. What did they tell you when you made your reservation?

When I called last week, they said that they don't need a deposit anymore, just a credit card number.

They asked for my CC#, but said that it would not be charged. They just needed it for a "courtesy hold" on the dates I wanted, and would only charge the card for one night if I needed to cancel the reservation within 30 days of the reservation date.

They said that I will receive the confirmation in the mail within the next two weeks. Then if I wish to do so I may pay towards the reservation to try to have it paid before we arrive.

I like this new way of making ressies. I read somewhere on the boards that they are only charging the deposit if you are booking the CR (or other overflow resort) prior to the opening of the new SoG. I guess it's a Disney Resort thing. But when we stayed at SoG two years ago they charged the deposit on our CC then we paid the rest in money orders prior to our arrival there. So I guess this is a new SoG policy.

Hope this helps.

Hmmmmmm, this must be a very recent change. I made reservations in May and had to pay a 1 night deposit. Oh well, less to pay when I get there!

It is recent - when I called back to make sure that I had been given the correct information about this the reservation agent told me that it was effective as of June 16 this year. So I guess anyone who made them before that did have to pay the one night deposit. It also seems that anyone who made reservations after that date, but for while they were still at the Contemporary also still had to pay the one night deposit - maybe Disney was requiring that since it was for the Contemporary??
