On to Day Two
The Best Day of the Trip!!
OK folks, its the moment youve all been waiting for, the Proposal Story!!
Lets start from the beginning I woke up around 6am and jumped in the shower, then woke everyone else up. Since I was probably the most excited about being in Disney, me being the first one up was definitely a trend on this trip. I just threw on shorts, a tshirt, and a hoody because it was a little chilly that morning and I wanted to be comfy. When DF came out from getting ready, I commented on how nice he looked: he had on a nicer polo, plaid shorts, and he had gelled his hair. Looking back, this should have been my first red flag that something was up that morning: DF would live in tshirts and baseball hats if I let him, so why was he dressed up (by his standards lol!) for a theme park hmm. But I still thought nothing of it, maybe he wanted to look nice in pictures with the characters at breakfast? At least thats what I thought at the time
We were out the door in about an hour and on our way to MK. We hopped on a resort monorail since it was before the park was open, and when we got to the front gate we hopped in the line for people with breakfast or BBB reservations. I remember DF saying to me Why is this line so long. Are we gonna make our reservation? He seemed kinda worried. This should have been my second red flag that something was up! I was surprised by this because I am the super planner and DF is usually very laid back and calming ME down when I think were going to be late for something, but the line really wasnt that bad so I told him not to worry.
We book an early Crystal Palace ADR on our first full day most every trip, it is tradition for us. I love being in the park first thing before it is officially open, so when we got in I was walking around and soaking up the atmosphere. I stopped to take some pictures along the way.
My dad had wandered off with the video camera, he is a cameraman for a local TV station, so he always has it out, even on vacation. DM, Dsis, and DBro went to go check us in at Crystal Palace.
DF asked me if I wanted to go over to the front of the castle. Like I said, last trip he had lost of bunch of pictures, and lots of them were of the castle, so he told me he wanted to go and take some new ones to replace them. I said OK, but first let me stop at CP and let my mom know where we are going in case we are called to be sat. He kept insisting that we just go right up to the castle, shell figure out where we are, but I refused, I get annoyed when people wander off without telling me so I went over there and let her know anyways.
As we headed toward the castle, I wanted to stop to take more pictures. There are always ducks and bunnies over by the water between CP and Adventureland, and I am a dork and love animals so I tried to stop and take a picture of them. DF seemed seriously annoyed by this for some reason, so I kept walking with him. Then, I spotted a photopass CM walking up toward the castle, so I stopped AGAIN and dug around my bag and found our photopass card and asked DF if we could stop and take a picture with him, it was such a beautiful morning and I wanted to fill up our preordered CD. But he refused! He just said we could do it later and kept walking. Ugh! At this point, I was seriously annoyed. He had wanted to come up here to take pictures, and thats what I was trying to do. Why was he stopping me? I was about to let him have it, I am definitely the more assertive one and DF goes along with what I want to do, so I was not pleased with how he was behaving.
I finally gave up on taking pictures just as we reached the castle. No one was around and it was eerily quiet except for the faint music playing in the background. Suddenly, DF stops dead, takes my hand, and says I cant picture a more perfect day, can you?. That is when it hit me. Hes gonna pop the question!!! Ahhh! My heart stopped, I couldnt form any words to answer him. Before I knew it, he was down on one knee, telling me that he loves me so much and he cant wait to spend the rest of our lives together, will I marry him? He whips a small, black velvet box out of his pocket and all of the sudden I see a sparkly diamond ring being held up for me!! I was on cloud nine, and the first thing I blurt out was Yes! Now arent you going to put it on me!.
DF is very used to how blunt I am. It took him a second, both our hands were very shaky, but as soon as the ring was on I threw my arms around him, I was in tears.
After we hugged for a minute and I smooched him, I realized I was hearing a clicking sound and clapping. I turn around, and realized that photopass guy who I had originally wanted a picture with had been taking photos the entire time! Behind him, my dad was video taping it! I felt like Britney Spears having paparazzi follow me around! The photopass guy had a pose for a bunch of shots, he took some of my ring, us kissing, DF on his knee, plus he had gotten the whole proposal. I will post all of those pictures on here soon as the CD comes in. Here is one DDad took to hold you over:
As soon as the photopass CM was done, the rest of my family ran up. They were hugging us and checking out the ring (DF did a great job btw, I LOVE it). Here is a close up taken at the Epcot rose garden later that day:
DBro told DF how excited he was to finally have a brother, so cute! Poor DF was telling them that I was the hardest person to propose to ever he thinks, I wouldnt listen to him or stand still long enough all morning for him to just do it
The whole experience went by so fast, it was a blur and very surreal. I guess my entire family had been in on it! DF took DD to lunch a month earlier to ask for my hand in marriage, which is so sweet, and of course DD told DM, so she knew as well. They told DBro and DSis the night before after we got back to our villa so they would give DF some space and we could be alone when he asked me. They had all been standing on the porch at CP watching from afar though, and everyone else in like for breakfast ADRs was watching too! It was such a great surprise, I cant believe everyone was in on it and I had no idea.
Everyone was starving at this point and it was time to head in for breakfast, but not before all of the ladies in line at CP got a chance to see my ring too haha. I love CP breakfast, especially the puffed French toast, but DF and I could barely eat we were so excited. I am sad about that now and wish I had eaten it more, so were going back in June for a redo haha. Pooh and piglet came around and they congratulated us, those pics are on my sisters camera, I will try and get them from her to post here. Our waitress brought us a certificate signed by pooh, piglet, tigger, and eeyore at the end of the meal and a cupcake with two candles in it for later!
It was so weird to get all that attention. After breakfast and calling a few relatives and my best friends who are going to be my bridesmaids, we went straight to guest services to get Just Engaged buttons. They were so cute and brand new, all week the CMs were telling us that we were the first couple theyd seen wearing them. Ill put pictures of those up too asap, but youll spot them in most of our photos, we wore them all week.
So that is my fun story of my proposal! I have been coming to Disney for 20 years now, it is my favorite place in the world, and I couldnt have pictures a better way to get engaged. I feel like I got a true Cinderella story
