Just how many of us are there?

I was curious as to any estimates of how many DVC owners there are. Does anyone have any idea, either based on actual numbers from Disney or if someone knows the number of points available at each resort I could get a good idea. Anyone?

DVC now reports the number of "members" at 68,000- but they don't define what constitutes a "member".

I don't think it is 68,000 unique individuals, but probably the number of distinct contracts sold. We have 4 contracts and several add-ons to our first contract. I assume we are counted as 4 members. We do receive 4 mailings of most promotional material and, of course, four billing statements.

Good question!

I have read repeatedly where people are getting multiple mailings, even guidebooks. Everyone talks about dues being high, but no one ever addresses this situation. Isn't there some way for DVC to upgrade their mailing list? It seems to me that this could save a lot of money.

These were posted a while back for DVC(top states) members from USA.;)

These numbers are from mid 2000:

New York.....5084
New Jersey..4372
Florida.........3777
Penn...........3311
Illinois.........3209
Mass...........2669
Michigan.....2196
Ohio...........1819
Conn..........1458
Texas..........978

"multiple guidebooks"? Then you have people like me who had to call about 4-5 times before I finally got one a few days before Thanksgiving. Yes, I'd be all for updating the list. We joined back in February and still seem to be missing out.

Just like any other mailings we receive at home ... if one receives duplicates of DVC mailings, then I would hope they would contact DVC & let them know. Also, if anyone has a change of address, they too should contact DVC. It makes sense to me :)!

I would agree that it would be nice to cross check the names/addresses on the mailing list. Since it's all sent out by bulk mail, the cost is not likely significant, but every little bit helps.

I did receive duplicate guidebooks, took the extras to the DIScon/DVC meet and gave them to those in attendance who hadn't yet received one.

Until just recently, I did not get duplicate mailings and am puzzled what change occurred with the list. I assume it will get back to minimal extras soon.

We have multiple contracts and my wife was on the second but not the first. She insisted on duplicate mailings so she could feel like she was a member. It took over a year and ultimately me changing the address to the second contract to my office address. It seems the address and not just the name is the purge criteria.
