Just how hot is it in September?

We always go in September and it is really, really hot! Sometimes it seems like you can feel yourself burning in the sun. That being said, the crowds are great!

For us, the last few days of September were so hot & humid that we will never return in September. I may have been a fluke that year we went but we were miserable!

Hot and humid. Avg about 88-93F with 80%+ humidity.

We love it though.

We've been the last 3 Septembers and I've never needed anything more than a tank top & shorts. Sweatshirts definitely not needed :goodvibes

It's hot! It's humid, and it will rain. Most trips I've only had 1 day with bad rain, and it was only for say, an hour or so max, then it lightened up and we were able to puddle jump in an even more empty park!

Be sure to drink LOTS of water, wear tons of sunscreen, and take breaks! I usually don't head back to the resort/pool midday, but I do make sure to do an indoor attraction or two (don't mind a 20 min indoor wait on days like these) or wander through a store/sit down in a QS restaurant for some nice air conditioning.

Going in September for the first time this year....not feeling great about it after these weather posts. We are going the last week, so hopefully the heat will ease up a little.

Don't worry! We've gone in September before and are going back the last week of September this year. It is hot and humid, but just be prepared to hydrate and rest if needed. Plus, I figure a little sweat helps burn off the calories of those mickey ice cream bars.

To OP: I'd suggest brining a some cheap ponchos instead of a sweatshirt. The last few years we've gone to WDW it has rained on us (more than just a quick shower). It's great though, because so many people clear out of the park or hide in the gift shops. That means ride lines are basically non-existent if you are willing to brave the rain. We just toss on a poncho and are on our merry way. I'd recommend a Ziploc bag to keep the ponchos in while you are at a restaurant or ride. Just fold them inside out :thumbsup2

We usually go this week and it is in 90's. Hot and humid, we would be sweating waiting on the bus to go to the parks in the morning. It wasn't that terrible though because most places have air conditioning so just walking to and from places was when it got hot. Plenty of drinks and misting fan help. A sit down meal in a restaurant is a big help to get your motivation going again.

We are going in September this year for the first time. Our trip is at the end of the month, but i know darn well it will still be H*O*T. Our last few trips have been late fall/winter/early spring - too chilly to really enjoy swimming, so I am looking forward to some swimming weather. Also, after that winter we had this year, I'm going to need a good hot summer and a rainforest experience in Florida in September to go through that again!

OP, my mom is always raving about something called the chilly towel. I'm going to look into it. I want to swim, but I don't need any heatstroke! :goodvibes Have fun planning!!!

Those saying it's so hot and humid I guess you don't go down to the area from June through September than? All these other months have higher humidity and temperatures than September.

Personally I found July to be pretty good for the most part just wouldn't want to stand right in the sun from 12-2 the whole time but you can find AC and shade most places.

We go often in September (for our anniversary) and my experience has been that if the daytime is 96 degrees with 90% humidity, by 10pm it will have dropped to 92 degrees and 87% humidity.

When you see the forecasted lows, they mean about 20 minutes between 4-5am.

We have a trip scheduled for the 2nd week of September this year. We also went in September 3 years ago. It is hot and humid but also manageable. We tried to keep to the shade provided by the buildings and intersperse the indoor A/C rides.

I recently read that it takes about a week to acclimate to that type of heat and humidity. So I plan to schedule some afternoon walks with my family in the nice heat and humidity of Hotlanta before we go! I think that will help with our perception and attitude.

We have also been towards the end of May and October. It's plenty hot then! My family said they would rather go when it's hot and low crowds, versus Thanksgiving with better temps!

We are yearly Disney visitors in September and it is hot hot hot. I won't lie. But there are ways around it. Utilize the cool rides, there's ac everywhere so if you need it or a break, take it! Don't push yourself. Pool time is always good for cooling down and relaxing. Later in the day when the sun shys away a bit or starts to you can instantly feel the temperature drop a bit and it's nice. The night time is perfect in my opinion. Make sure to have water and you can get free cups of water if need through out the parks. It's do able don't let the hot scare you from a great time to visit :)

We went in September for my son's first trip and it was so hot, I said I would never go again in September. And we were there in mid September, but it was also the summer of record highs and the temps while we were there were in the mid 90's and up. Our pictures have us sweating as soon as we got to the park. We weren't prepared for it to be that hot. So as long as you are prepared, it will make it easier. Just count on it being hot and humid, and if it isn't then you should count yourself lucky.

June and first parts of july statitiscly have lower relative humidty and dew points than sept. Aug/ sept are the peaks for humidity. That is what makes is bad. But managable. Just bring extra clothes and expect to be sweated thru in the morning on the way to the bus stop. This was my experience the past few years the first sept week. To worsen things, the afternoon showers are only a quick cool off, then comes the sun and literally steams things up on the hot tarmac.

A friend of mine lives in Florida calls Sept. " just nasty". I think a lot of us Northerners associate is month with cooler, fall, leaves turning brown weather. Not in FL.

We normally travel to WDW in July but last year we went the first part of September. DH and I both thought that although it was still hot in September it didn't feel as hot as mid-July when we normally go. Normally I will periodically wet a paper down to cool down my arms and neck and never needed to do that in September. My DH is not a fan of the heat and he wasn't even really complaining about the heat lol. But it is still hot, I would say it is still shorts and tank top weather....no need for sweatshirts.

We spent Labor Day weekend at WDW last year and it was around 90 degrees during the day. We never needed our jackets, even at night.

Spent a week at POR the third week in September 2011.. It was 90 degrees daily with a humidex in the low 100s. It rained daily but cleared quickly - didn't he break the humidity though. lol.

We had daily mid day breaks to help cope with the weather.. pool or just an A/C break.

LOL, I have lived in Florida for 43 years and I still have not acclimated to the heat

We went in September 2012 and it was hot but I didn't think it was that bad. I don't mind the heat though. My husband complained a little, but we made sure to do indoor rides and eateries during the hottest part of the day. Didn't need a sweatshirt.

It is hot outside, but FREEZING inside. Especially when it rains! My DH hates the heat but hates crowds even more. This year, I even gave him the option of November but he picked September, so September it is. We're not even resort-in-the-middle-of-the-day kind of people. We just bring a couple of extra shirts for DH and are good to go!

Oh man, we are going sept 10-17. I will die for sure. Why did I think it would be cooler? Maybe we should change to November for Christmas time?
