Just how crowded is it?

We have no interest in soaps, so attending the super soap weekend events are out of the question.

BUT

We heard that even though the park is crowded, the lines for the rides are virtually empty.

Is this true and would you recommend going to MGM that weekend, just for the rides?

Is it difficult to get around the park?

Is there any attraction or place that should be avoided?

We were there a few years ago for soaps week and didn't realize it until my stepdaughter saw one of the "stars". The lines were average. The park was crowded but the lines were not that bad. The longest we waited for anything was 30 - 40 minutes. If a line had a longer wait we would go back at another time.
