Just how bad is August?

I agree, this year was different and the crowds were noticeably worse because of free dining and of course I participated :rolleyes1 . I think however we must be hardening up regarding the weather because this was the first time we seemed to be able to tolerate it easily......

This year was different and I think next year as they have already offered free dining to the UK that the trend will be the same. Quieter at the beginning of August and getting busier after the 13th.

We also coped well with the heat - like you walking a lot in the shade and drinking plenty although I did notice that we were tired in the evenings. The only time it really affected us was down at Vero when we spent the entire day outside.

Better August than July which is horrendous.

We are having to go August next year and have already booked the last two weeks and doing the three night Disney Cruise in the middle weekend.

This the first time we have been in August as we promised the school we would not take Kirsty out of school again as we are taking her out of school for 7 days in two weeks time.

This is probably the worse time to take a cruise as well!! I cannot get any other two weeks off work so we are really stuck with the last two weeks. I guess we will just have to make the best of it.

Our plan is not to go to WDW during 2008 (rent out our DVC points) and go to Spain instead and if August is ok go in 2009 which should be our last school holiday before Kirsty leaves school.

Hope to see you all in August 2007

Same situation we have been for the last 2 years, actually booked for July 2007 and despite thinking of a different type of Florida holiday with very little theme park days , it is unlikely we will go , it's just too hot for Josh.

Julie being a teacher is great for school holidays as we do not need a child minder, but it really limits our holiday options - especially as the kid's are off for weeks in the summer, it's the logical time to go.

Are you thinking of changing your dates, or just not going Johnny? Please don't disappear from the boards ..........

Hopefully things will improve as Josh gets older giving you a bit more flexibility again :goodvibes

We went in August because of the school holidays and it really was too humid for us. The heat was Ok but the humidity was just too much. The heat really slowed us down and the only time we really enjoyed the parks was in the evenings. Extra hours in the Magic Kingdom until 2am were absolutely brilliant. We stayed at the Dolphin and the pool was always packed with people wearing hats to keep the sun off their heads so swimming was a challenge!

Have to say, coming from Windsor, UK, the highlight of our holiday was the storms, we do not get many here at all.

Hey, if you want to see rain, come to Wales !!!!! ;)

Hi Moira,

First of all irrespective of whether we go again I am definitely not dissapearing from the boards, I still like to talk about Florida so I would miss it too much. :thumbsup2

Very longggggg story about our possible future holidays ,we booked for next July ages ago, and well before our recent August holiday.
At the moment we are just not sure what we are doing, Josh didn't handle the long flights well at all this year and coped with the heat even less!
Difficult to go any other time as I mentioned earlier, could possibly move it to the following Easter.

'If' we go it certainly won't be just an Orlando holiday , would have to stay elsewhere for part of it as I just cannot see us doing the theme parks much at all. To be honest despite the heat Josh didn't seem to enjoy them quite as much anyway, preferred playing in the pool at the villa.

We shall see I guess, either way I will still be around the Trip Planning Forum. ;)

I like the thunderstorms the best, followed by warm rain. Have been to Wales on many occasions and love the scenery, even walked down Snowdon. Have also been to Cardiff on many occasions for the ice hockey.
