We are just back from a week in Disney, everything went well except for Sunday night at the magic kingdom. We found the park far too busy and we were trying to exit the park after the first parade at 7pm. However as we got closer to main street we discovered that you couldn't get down it due to the amount of people waiting to watch the fireworks. We went to get the train and found these were off. If they park is that full do they always take the trains off at night?

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy Sunday night. That was our first night here and we went to MK and did not find it too overwhelming. With that said we do come to WDW a few times a year and have seen various crowd sizes.

As for the train it does stop running after a certain time.

I think it was due to the fact we had been at the park at 8am for rope drop and it was empty and left at lunch time to come back to it was a big change. Overall all the other disney days we had were excellent and the crowds were very manageable!

I may be wrong, but I thought the trains were down for refurb or service? I seem to remember reading that it was time for the annual maintenance.

We were there last October on a non party night and it was the same way. There were so many people in the round a bout and street they could not even clear walking paths. The CM's made an effort, but there were just too many people. Sorry it was so busy and you had difficulty. We were told that because there are so few non party nights everyone shows up for the parade and fireworks so they don't miss them and it is a zoo.

I remember reading somewhere that the trains stop right before the fireworks...

They do stop the trains due to the fireworks being shot from behind Space Mtn.

The only way to get out is to cut through the stores on main street. You can enter at Casey's hot dogs and go through all the stores until you get to the fire station. They are crowded but people are moving.

Due to an increase in the number of Live Report and Just Back threads, the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies Moderator Team has decided to start moving these over to our trip report forum. The purpose of the theme parks attractions and strategies board is to help people find valuable information to plan their trips, discuss the attractions, and changes that are happening at Disney World.

Live trip reports, and just back threads are really a better fit for our trip report board. You can find the trip report forum here:

We know that everyone loves to talk about their trips, and we do love to hear about everyone's trips. So, please share your trip stories, and read about other trip stories over on our trip report forum. Danny

We were going to cut through the shops but we couldn't get to them due to everyone sitting waiting on the second parade starting after the fireworks finished.
