i'm so upset. I can't sleep at all now. The poor thing just jumped right into my car. My car is pretty banged up too. I've never hit a deer before. I'm still trying to recover from hitting a cat over 5 years ago (everytime I go down the street I feel bad) now this is going to haunt me (it's the opposite street so now I can't go either way)

This happened to me, when I had my current car for only 2 months! To have such damage to a brand new car, and my FIRST new car ever!

But hitting a deer is a very common occurance around here, as deer are everywhere. My Honda had over $1200 worth of damage. The drivers door (or paneling, don't remember) had to be replaced, and the front fender too. Ugh. The car was at the body shop for almost two weeks. The only good thing was that I still owned my old rusty blue Honda (hadn't got around to donating it to charity yet), and it still ran so I just started using it again. It was like I never had the new car to begin with. :(

Funny thing is the deer who hit my car bounced off it and ran back into the woods! Who knows? He may have survived just fine! :scratchin:

Good thing now is, now my car is 11 years old and has run great all these years! I will hit 200,000 miles very soon! And I took the car to Florida three times recently! Hope your car will be OK, too. :)

Poohtown~ I know you're upset about the deer, but please realize how lucky you are to have survived! A woman I know lost her adult son some years ago, when a deer ran into his car! I'm sure you're wondering if it could have been avoided, but I'm sure that's not the case. I know many people would be devastated right now, had both you and the deer perished! Don't feel guilty, just know that some things in life can't be avoided! We're glad you're still here! :grouphug:

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :cool1: glad your ok, cars can be fixed, around here we have to be very careful about deer too. :wizard:

I'm sorry, but it was probably unavoidable. The deer around here (and there are LOTS of them!!!) get hit a lot because they just go bounding across traffic!!!!!!!!!

You certainly didn't do it on purpose, and thank God you're all right.

I'm so glad you're not hurt physically. DH hit a deer on his way home from work - he drives 50 mi one way, on back roads - many critters to contend with. He called me and was so upset b/c it happened in an unlit area and he didn't know what he'd struck. The car was driveable although he couldn't get the pwr windows open on his side of the car. After driving down the road a bit, he came upon the police who'd pulled someone over. He looked at the car and knew immediately what had happened. The poor deer had taken out the whole side of the car. On top of this we were driving to WDW within a few days. DH sucked it up and we still went but the drive was not the best due to weather conditions. We were able to make it down and back safely thank goodness.

:grouphug: to you and just remember that sometimes things just are out of our control.
