Just had dinner with my daughter

I'm feeling much better about things.

And I've realized something, she collects strays. Animals, people she doesn't care. We had dinner with two other young men that had no one to eat with.
She just collects people, animals, it doesn't matter. If someone is alone, she seeks them out.


I had the opportunity to go swimming or visit the sauna at the hotel she's at. But wearing my bathing suit in front of a bunch of young men, when my daughter was declared heavy, was not what I wanted to do. lol No scaring the young men before they sign up.

I think your dd probably collects 'strays' because she has a soft heart. I really like that trait in people. The world would be a lot better place if more people were like that.

I fake it. I'm not so strong. Some days are better than others, but there is no one here for me to lean on, so I go to the places I know I can get support. It really helps.
And I have a feeling you are much stronger than you think.

hang in there, and buy lots of stamps and paper!! I wrote my DS a letter everyday so that he always got mail. It meant 10 extra push-ups everyday, but he said the letters from home kept him going.

Why did getting mail make him have to do pushups?

It's 10 push-ups for every letter! He got so much mail, his nickname was Push-Powell. Letters are great, just no packages, thats when they really get in trouble. I forget what the punishment is, but all I know is NO PACKAGES!! They get to make a couple of phone calls, so a phone card is a must have too. Have you gotten a packing list yet. If so only get whats on the list, I know he said anything extra got taken away and locked up until graduation. Good luck!!

Yikes! Her swearing in ceremony is today. No packing lists yet.
I was wondering what she was supposed to take to basic, but it won't be for a while yet.

When Bri was in karate, she had to do a lot of pushups. On her knuckles. She was too sassy for her own good. She surprised the heck out of some boys at her school.

I have been in your shoes and know the many mixed emotions you are feeling.
As Moms we will always worry about our children, their decisions and happiness, no matter their age. I will always remember what my son told me the day he left for the Army, 'he would never forget who he was or where he came from'. I then knew he'd be ok and I still cling to those words.....

The NG will give your daughter a list of what is allowed to bring for training.
