............. Jaki from www.atimeshare.com Looks like we can close early on our BWV resale. :D

Since we leave for WDW next Thursday we will wire our final payment right before we leave and Jaki is going to meet us at our hotel to sign off on the last of it! We save 30 bucks in FedEX charges :p AND get to close before we come home on the 18th! YIPPEEEEEE!! We'll come home to even more points! :sunny:

Plus, we are both really looking forward to meeting Jaki! We have talked so much on the phone and chatted via email so much over these past 5 months.... I feel like I know her.
It will be great to put a face to the voice!

Wooo hoooo! Nothing like signing the dotted line while at WDW! I gotta take a picture!

Had to share!
:D

Is there an approximate "closing cost" that you can give and points bought ? I am still trying to see the benefit of buying a re-sale over a new purchase with certain prices I have been looking at. If not thats ok too, Its just i never see anyone post a total cost to see thier savings - I have let 3 re-sales slip in last week because of this - and I dont like to call anyone without info handy first.

Congrats Laura! Have a great trip while I'm stuck here in the frozen tundra we call home. It's got to get warm soon...

We booked next years' BWV trip today!

Gigashadow - we bought our original BWV through Disney, and just closed in March on a OKW resale of 232 points. We were able to get the resale at $58/point, with roughly $500 in closing costs. Our closing costs were somewhat lower, because we only had to pay maintenance on 117 points vs the complete 232. But as I understand, this can be negotiated with the seller.

Based on what I'm seeing the current resales going for, I'm not sure you would "save" that much over buying with Disney, prior to the increase on June 1. One factor maybe if you don't want to have BCV as your "home" resort, then you may want to go resale for the resort you want to call "home."

I guess thats what I was looking at "with DVC rebuying at $62 a point now - so I have read. My other problem is my wanting a Sept use year to join my VWL use year.

And Yes - Congrats Laura on your expantion!

I keep eyeing a 150 BWV resale with my April use year vs waiting for an add-on through Disney. Our original 270 was fine when we didn't have to pull the girls out of school to go. But next year, all three DDs will be in school, so we can't go in Dream. We're fine, as long as we can get standard view, (as we did today :D ) but if we have to get preferred, then those points get used quickly!

The other thing to consider when looking at the resale is are there any banked points. This sometimes can make that savings bigger, not necessarily from a $ perspective, but from added points available.

This will be our last "May Fun In The Sun" trip for a while - same prob here - DS will miss 5 days this trip and DD starts school next year. Its getting tough on the kids as I have watched with friends and It will be all No-School days and Summers after this trip. Sooooooo glad we did all the earlier trips with the discounts on Rooms/Airfares/Parks/Car Rentals because of that "right time of year"

We bought 300 VWL which is basically fine for now with DS-6 and DD-4, But the thought of point prices in 5 or so years to get a 2bdrm on a steady basis puts shivers through me - thats why i consider getting the "point spread" now.

Thanks llp479, and good luck on your resale hunt !

Giga.... I just recieved our final summary but it is upstairs, and in all places my DDs bedroom.... I will dig it up tomorrow, cant risk waking them up!. But our closing costs ran around 450 bucks plus misc fees, and partcial reembursment for fees on banked points. OUr contract is for 270 BWV points with all of last years and this years points. 540 points right now..... and we can borrow all of 2003....
I smell a cruise coming on!!! :D I think this is a perk of buying resale....
but I could be delusional

As far as what is a better deal.... I feel that you should buy where you want to stay (in our case everywhere lol) and find the best deal out there.

For this last contract, I had called Jaki and told her what we wanted and how much we wanted to pay. It took a couple of weeks but then the 270 contract came across her desk. It was a few more points than we wanted but between the banked points and what the sellers asking price was..... well it was too good to pass up. And I know we will find use of the points!

I think over all you save a bit of money buying resale..... plus you get to pick the resort you want, the use year you want (in our case we wanted a different UY for the BWV points) and the price you want..... within reason. (Kudos to Dean for pushing the limit!!! WOo Hoo) We could have paid a few dollars less pp but prolly would not have had the banked points this contract had.....

Are kids are still little, well not so little, my oldest turned three today :::::::::Sniff sniff:::::::::: but we are a couple of years away from traveling at high season... We decided to add one now instead of waiting, because right now we can travel more in smaller accomdations.... later we will travel less in style :D

llp49.... I am heading up your way this weekend. Looks like the weather will be nice :( we were hoping for rain, to keep the crowds away! Neither of us have been to Great America in 4 or 5 years. I hear a lot has changed! A couple of new coasters! WOooo HooooO!! And a Fast Pass deal??? Cant wait!

Giga.... Wanted to add.... our first trip on points is to the Poly..... :D Thought you would get a kick outa that seeing that was your old home away from home before DVC!

Congratulations Laura on your newest addition of points! I would definately go for the cruise. It would be great to meet Jaki. Tell her everyone from the DIS says hello.:)
