Just got off the phone with DH and I am so sad...

We knew he was deploying this month to Iraq (he was slotted for anytime between the 11-19), but as of 20 minutes ago he leaves on Friday. This really sucks because DD5s first ballet recital is on Saturday and now he will miss it! Since she has began ballet DH has been the "ballet mom" taking her to all her classes and everything. We did this so that they would have something that was just the two of them. She has her last class tonight too. Now he has to tell her he can't go and I know she will be heartbroken. She still hasn't got over him missing her first day of school last September (he was in Iraq then too). I hate how deployments seem to just sneak up on you! I mean, I knew it was coming, I just kinda ignored it. Ya know?? Oh well, I am buying the DVD and taping it so he can watch it when he gets back next year, but it just is not the same.

I can definately see why you are sad! I wish there was something I could say to make you less so. Sending you some virtual {{{hugs}}} - I hope his time there is short and he comes home to you safely.

Make sure you video tape her dance. If you can do it digitally, she can send it to him via email. I can't imagine how hard it is for you having him so far away, and in such a place. I hope he isn't there too long and returns to you safely.

Hang in there! My friends husband is getting deployed too; for a year and they are adopting a child from China. So when he gets back, he will have a new 1-2 year old that is his child!

I know it is tough..we are thinking of you!

I hear ya---my DH is most likely leaving at the end of the month for Iraq.....we will know for sure this week. Lots of hugs and feel free to PM anytime! I have kids too- ages 6 and almost 3...

It is so hard on everyone when deployment happens... My boys that it would be "cool" that their Dad might be going, . they love anything ARMY .... until he told them he would be in the office building that the terrorist keep trying to blow up..

Thank you for sacrificing so much for the rest of us. It must be very difficult for your family to be apart, not along miss such important events in each other's lives. Tell your daughter to "break a leg" from us on the DIS and I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that I hope your DH returns home to you safely. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.

Another one sending hugs and prayers. My husband left last Monday and it has been the most DIFFICULT week we have had in a long time. Hubby called on sons 14th birthday last week and DD asked...daddy will I see you tommorow...broke my heart. Every night shes been crying and having tummy aches. Husband will miss sons promotion from middle school this week. Counting the days till he gets back makes it seem forever.......................................

I think a private recital for Dad is a great idea. I know it's hard on all of you having him go away, and the timing really stinks.
